Right now, item hover windows have three prices: Official price, Price today, and Overall price.
Overall price and Price today are always exactly the same. I think this makes Overall price useless and redundant. But it does not have to be!
My suggestion: change Price today to Buy price and Overall price to Sold price. Have one be "cheapest price in stores" (same as what you get when you edit your items in the shop, basically) and the other be "last sold for price" (same as what would show up in the recently sold list in shops for whatever the most recent purchase of that item was).
Since both those are tracked now for shops, it shouldn't be extra work on the database?
No support, even though the OP is correct and one of those lines is redundant/downright misleading.
I've been playing here a long time and I am primarily a merchant. "last sold" and "cheapest in shops now" are almost always exactly the same. So this sounds like a non-Suggestion to me creating work for the programmers with little result.
Check out the 7 day and monthly price trackers on the fansite SubetaLodge and you will see some interesting things on prices in the toy-economy of Subeta.
Price today used to be an average of the price that it sold at today. But that broke a few years back, and was never fixed.
Straight last sold could potentially be used to scam people by having a friend buy something out of shop. It could also be confusing for certain rarely sold items like Gelatin Concotion which is easily worth 400-500mil, but still a couple sell on shop search every year by people who don't know what they have. If there is always a 100mil price tag on the item description of every item that could lead to more people being confused. You could also take something like genetech second skin, sell it through a shop to a friend, and then go approach people offering 150mil as a good offer (when it's a terrible offer).
For a few days (several years back now) the quest system was also trying to reward people based on todays average prices, and people were able to abuse it to make billions, so if anyone does go tinkering with it again, make sure it's not still tied to quests.
The better question is probably if that line of code is still trying to average the price of all items sold today eating up a bunch of site resources and to see if it could just be deleted. Because if that code is still trying to do something I bet its eating a lot of resources.
