Not very huge news mind you, but this is literally what # news was made for (notifying people on-site of things shared officially off-site) and I haven't seen them posted anywhere else for me to just ping there so I'm making a thread. Sorry if this is below your personal newsworthy threshold.
@ SubetaKeith ('s Subeta-focused Twitter) recently tweeted a few things about the site's recent downtime/future funding and @ Subeta (Subeta's official Twitter) retweeted them. Images (and links) below for easy reading.

4th and 5th tweets (thread)
Kickstarter/Patreon/Etc type funding has been discussed on-site for some time (as a few of the tweet replies mention). Keith actually ">mentioned it on-site not too long ago in a slightly different light (link).
Edit: The ping for this was originally broken because of an apostrophe in the title (didn't realize that was still a thing). Sorry for the mystery double ping (edited it completely out and then back in once, no clue why it went twice) trying to fix it!
Thanks for the pings and the info.
RIP Mom, I love & miss you more than you know. Tell Dede hi.
Ocean Conservation Namibia on YouTube... they do good work! https://www.ocnamibia.org
Thanks for this. I didn't know because I rarely go on Twitter and/or Facebook.

Sorry again for the two pings. I actually edited it out and back in yesterday (I think) after discovering the issue and fixing the title and it didn't go off at all so apparently the new maintenance code just particularly dislikes me :c
I was surprised to see these pop up on Twitter recently. @ Subeta had been covering the downtime but Keith's Subeta tweets are a lot more sporadic. I'm not sure what to think of the idea really (it could end up a lot of different ways) but interested that it's no longer being ruled out pretty much entirely as it has been in the past.
Not gonna lie, I've felt like there has been a growing disinterest in this site for a while among the team. That may not be entirely fair to assume, but that's how I have felt for a while. It just seems to be a lot of decline, and I realize that a site like this is very hard to maintain and come up with a constant stream of ideas for but. I've been here for 12 years - that may have a lot to do with my opinion, because the events used to feel like they were fun because it wasn't just the general user base looking forward to them.
Now it just feels like these things are pushed out as an obligation - and that can lose a lot of heart in a small team of artist (and coders and...item description writers and lore...writers, everything that makes this site what it is.)
I really hope I'm not coming off as entitled, like I sound like I expect more items or whatever. I just, I hope that in the coming decade that more life is breathed into this site. I'm willing to support in anyway I can, because subeta is one of those things that has gotten me through some tough times. (even though I've never really been sociable on here and I haven't really reached out to make new friends lmao..)
I appreciate this and thank you or posting. I do not have a Twitter account so I wouldn't have ever seen these posts to read.
thank you for the ping! this is a perfect use of the # news ping imo 💖
tbh i like this as a concept; i'm already not adverse to throwing money at the site in the slightest, so having it in a more manageable form & knowing more in detail what we're funding is super a-ok by me! i love subeta, and even with its issues i truly think it's the best pet site available out there. other ones start strong and then die off, or are breeding style games, or are super ultra corporate and tailored to kids.
either way! excited about this news 🐁
Thank you for this info!
Like a good neighbor, stay over there!

Thanks for the update! I rarely check the Subeta twitter, so this was a nice refresher of some rumors that have been going around that I haven't been able to verify.
It sounds awesome. Will it happen, though?
Like, don’t get me wrong. I want it to. And I’m still a person who is able, and willing, to throw money at the pixels I’ve hoarded and loved like children for twelve years. But, I mean, uh... I just don’t have a lot of faith? I have a lot of hope! And well wishes! And faith in Bug! But in twelve years here I’ve watched people come and go, and the same thing happen with promises. And plans. And ideas. So, yeah. If you’re really gonna do that y’all, awesome! If not? Eh. Okay. /shrug.
Thank you for the ping! I do not have a Twitter account so I would not have seen this but for this post. I love this game and appreciate all that staff does to keep it alive!
I am glad there is no fee for playing as there are a lot that play that would not be able to pay. However, perks and items from the cash shop works perfectly for those that can since it’s voluntary.
Calendar days are closer than they appear! [item=mocking clock]
Thank you for posting this!
Thanks! I'm another without twitter or facebook so I always miss these things.
this is exactly what the news groups is for! As for the double ping, no big deal, it happens. Much rather get two pings than none!

:O Thank you for posting this! I would have totally missed it. That is very exciting news, I can't wait to see what's in store. Glad to hear more about the site's future and it's very interesting that the 3rd party funding options are being considered again, that definitely perked my ears up! :) Here's to a fun and productive 2020, Subeta.
