I'm doing this poll all around the Internet, and I wonder what Subeta thinks.

Okay so full disclosure but I've only seen Kanto/Unova/Kalos/Alola and am missing most in between. I've seen parts of Sinnoh but almost no Johto or Hoenn except a select few eps (usually the ones with cat pokemon lmao)

1. Obviously Pikachu is his . His best friend through it all. Ash and Pikachu basically invented the concept of having a partner pokemon.
2. Charizard! He's been there for Ash through blood and fire even though he didn't listen to him for ages
3. Greninja from XY/Z........imagine having a bond so strong you just accidentally invent a form of mega evolution for a pokemon that isn't known to mega evolve. Maybe also kinda broke my heart a little bit
4. Torracat is one of my favorite pokemon Ash has had PERIOD. Especially with its backstory as a Litten and the fact that it CHOSE to be with Ash when it was so determined to be independent/alone its whole life. That's true friendship :')
5. Lycanroc because not only did he love Ash so much he evolved into a totally new kind of Lycanroc altogether, but

6. Not really iconic but I have a HUGE soft spot for his Goomy from XY/Z. What is it with XYZ and pokemon that break your hurt oof

So I've also missed out on a few seasons of the anime but from those that I have seen/know of:

1. Pikachu - Definitely his most iconic imo! I mean he started his entire adventure with him and is always by his side~
2. Charizard - One of the few pokemon I've seen who returns to save the day a couple times after he officially "leaves" his team. He has had a lot of character development as he's grown from a little baby Charmander and the bond forged between them seemed especially strong once he finally trusts Ash as a Charizard.
3. Butterfree - Maybe I'm being a little biased since Bye Bye Butterfree just destroyed my baby heart... but I also feel like Butterfree was a really important character for Ash since Caterpie was the first pokemon he caught himself~
4. Greninja - Although I never actually watched more than a few beginning episodes of X/Y, I have to agree that he's pretty iconic if Ash was able to create an entire evolution for him based on his own likeliness/characteristics haha
5. Lycanroc - Similarly to Greninja, I thought it was really cool that Ash's Rockruff evolved into a "newly discovered" form with its Dusk form and was such a prominent pokemon in Ash's battle team for Sun/Moon.
6. Squirtle - I mean, the Squirtle Squad is just so iconic in general for me! And I always loved his fun personality that made for a cute dynamic between the personalities of Ash's 3 Kanto starters.
