who or what is an apyr babie no.5 and why have there been a billion of them sitting in adopt r us

genuinely though does anyone know if this is a reference to something? am i missing something? the only thing i was able to find when i googled it was the друг meme with no mention of the number five anywhere. unless this is just someone's oddly named oc that they made an entire swarm of accidentally (or purposefully?) and had to get rid of.

i adopted one just because i thought it was funny but thought i should try to dig a little more into the mystery behind its name before i do anything with it. if this turns up nothing i'm just going to keep the meme in mind and turn it into a cute little nightmare rreign and it can be my droog baby -

i think someone is creating them and zapping them, not sure if there's more of a mystery to it

I've been pound watching for a couple of weeks now and one day, they all just appeared within the span of about ten minutes or so. I think someone was trying for a specific name and wasn't satisfied, so they went through like ten alternates and then dumped the others in the pound. No clue about the name meaning or origin.

Edit: I think others are taking and zapping them. They were all Common Zasabas at first.

yeah, i've definitely seen them disappear and reappear in the pound after being zapped, which makes sense. i don't think the original creator of the pets was doing the zapping though, as they all were dumped as common zasabas. the theory that someone couldn't decide on how they wanted to format the name also makes total sense to me!

i think i'm most curious about the name itself since it seems so specific, it made me think it might have been in reference to something in particular. i've seen a lot of pets named after fictional characters wind up in the pound (there are plenty there currently), so i was curious to know if my apyr babie no.5 was related to some series or franchise or something before i committed to owning a fan pet i had no knowledge of. even if it's a totally original name, i'm still kind of curious who was doing the naming and how they came up with it. if it's a character they created, what's the character like? what does the number 5 mean? why are they babie?

but unless the original creator is browsing this forum, i don't think i'll get any of those answers. as of now i'm going to just assume this isn't some fan reference to anything and do as i like with the little guy (:

Yeah, I mean, if you create fifteen versions of your pet's name and then abandon them in the pound, that right there is kind of tacit agreement that others can do whatever they want with those pets and names.

I mean, if you don't want someone with a pet named incredibly similarly to yours doing something very different storywise, then maybe don't create fifteen versions and dump them in the pound? :D

ooh no, i was on neopets but never heard of that, what was it like?

i think making some sort of ARG with my pets would be super cool but i'm not clever enough to pull it off haha. or just having them linked together by a story in some way, i used to really admire people on neopets who would have elaborate webs of pets/characters. i do have plans for one or two of my pets to make them a bit interactive though! i might keep that in mind while working on apyr.
