Heya, I'm still a battling newbie, my strongest pets are upper tier 4, nearly tier 5 right now. I've been doing BQs whenever possible lately, and I've been able to consistently deal with opponents up to the hard category. Some of the hard battles I was able to do without much difficulty, but am hitting a wall with some of the opponents. So, I could use a little advice, if anybody has any for how best to deal with these jerks.

Gingembromme is one I have no idea how to deal with. I can't seem to damage him as he is able to block everything, and he drains my health too rapidly for me to keep healing while trying to get some damage through. Is it possible for tier 4 or 5 pets to beat this one?

Mechalag is also giving me trouble. I read the battle blog page, where it suggests using an infinite healer along with the shear sword. I tried this, but just wasn't able to get his health down before he drained my health, even with some clutch healers and scrolls. I also tried replacing the shear sword with the classic hero sword and antihero sword, and threw some bombs at him, and got closer (got mechalag's health down to about 1/5), but my pet wasn't able to hold out. According to the info, tier 4 pets should be able to beat this guy. Either I can't heal enough, or I'm not doing enough damage.

I have a fair number of weapons, but most is tier 2 & 3 stuff with a few tier 4. I have the genetech swords like antihero, classic hero, dark jeweled, lords sabre, and shear. I have some freezers, a couple stealers, and some bombs. My best infinte healers include I have some clutch healers like ruffie healy bones, rainbow quill, Shinwas healing wine, and jewel encrusted quill. Also various shields, and stuff like the azathoth set, armored groblen, and the forj tempered vambraces and tassets. Scrolls wise, my strongest scrolls are Singed Stuffing, Vengeful Tide, Telson, Still Pool, and Terra Spire. Still working on making others, trying to RS the really rare ingrediants, but it's tough. I hope to make Divine Denizen soon, just waiting for a damn holy water to RS.

Whenever I find a reasonably priced weapon I try to add it to my armory, but it's getting tougher to find good affordable tier 4+ weapons. So my set is a bit ghetto and cheapass, but I hope I don't have to drain my vault to get weapons capable of beating these hard opponents, I know it gets much much more difficult later.

Are there weapons I need to be using to get through these guys? Is there a certain strategy I'm missing? Or are my pets just too weak for some of the hard opponents? I'd appreciate any advice you guys can offer me.

Hard opponents are typically for T4-5 pets so you are right where you should be! Oftentimes you just have to wait for your stats to grow more before you're ready to beat the next opponents.

I have a post over here with tier recommendations for getting five wins each opponent. Gingembromme and Mechalag are both recommended for T4 so you should be able to beat them with some set changes.

Set Recommendations Tier 4

Tier 5

^ The Gorgun is available in the Battle Shop. It's a once per battle 100% freezer. Everything else should be generally affordable with the exception of the Phoenix Quill. I recommend picking up one of those as soon as you can because you'll use it for your entire battle career. Apart from the Rainbow Quill, you're outgrowing your other healers rather quickly.

For scrolls, some better OPB options would be Fatal Fire Scroll and Cobalt Eternal Scroll for strong attack and defense, respectively. I think pairing those with your Singed Stuffing/Divine Denizhen will give you better results. Scrolls are usually where things get expensive early on, but I think they will be worth the investment because you can use those two forever.

Gingembromme is easier for unevenly trained pets at T4, but you should be able to beat him by T5

Mechalag is just a pain in the butt until your strength and health are higher. He has a lot of health for a small tier pet so battles take a while. He also has the ability to freeze you, which will stop you from healing and can be a nuisance for smaller pets.

I think your biggest drawback is battling with T2/T3 weapons and not enough T4/T5 weapons. Your pet will do more damage with better weapons. I would try fighting gingembromme again with these weapons:
