How do you decide which pets to feed and what? Do you have a gourmand pet? Do you just pick randomly?

I picked

Kosmo to be my gourmand (he'd already eaten some foods before I adopted him, so it worked to go with him), then usually I'd leave the others to be hungry :P ....but since they added in the hungry pets list for feeding, all my others now get a vacation in the resort so I don't have to sort through lots of pets to find my gourmand :P

Amalea hasn't eaten that much yet. Like Paddy, I stuff all of my pets except the gourmand into the resort so I don't accidently feed anything to someone else. Still I've gotta admit that I find the feeding a little overwhelming here and there. Even though Amalea is basically just starting out, I often seem to stumble across food she already ate and I can imagine that it will be hard to keep track further down the line. As for WHAT I feed to her, usually what NPCs give me for doing quests. However, sometimes Pete or someone else might ask me for something that sounds particularly delicious, so I'll buy one extra for Amalea. I try to avoid giving her poop or snot or something like that, though. The girl needs some standards.

Fairground Pest is my gourmand. He gets to eat just about any food I get, if he hasn't already had it. I keep him fed with an Infinity Berry if I don't have anything new for him. Everyone else goes into the resort to keep fed.

Good replies everyone! It's really convincing me I need to get a gourmand but that's on hold until get the experiment I need.

I was aiming for that at first so I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that's cute! It does get pretty difficult though :(

Bucky who is also my battle pet (: At first I did it because of a character but I have changed so many times (names, colors, species, overlays) only I kept the gourmand always.

I have one pet I feed everything to, but I kind of made her a vegetarian, still she's a Gourment. The real issue there is that I try to get achievements at the moment and that includes stuff with meat/ bones/ etc. So I'll probably start feeding stuff to a 2nd pet. I already did so with a little bit of food. Since I have no idea how to post the little headshots of the pets I cannot link them here

Random but I avoid feeding the same pet the same food, so I try to diversify
