I have an idea for a character, but I can't get any sort of backstory written. Can someone help give me a push in the right direction based off the character details below?
name: Hostile age: 23 gender: female height: 5'7" eyes: violet hair: hot pink piercings: industrial and helix on left ear build: athletic
Personality: Confident, competitive and dangerous in a fight. Quick wits, sarcastic and likes to gloat. Always up for a fight and ready to kick butt.
Inspirations: Tank Girl, Roller Derby, Pit Fighter
I think you have some very compelling inspirations for Hostile. If anything, I think you can look at different situations that you can use as a springboard to introduce personality aspects and hammer home what makes her interesting as a character. A huge question to ask here is: how can you use situation and conflict to really work in that competitive streak and fighting capability? In this case, I think you'll want to think about how to escalate a conflict and really let her shine. How do you see her taking on a fight--a tense one-on-one, a reckless fight against a group, or more of a strategic approach to battle?
What's also important is what kind of note do you want to end on. Are you looking to make it a triumphant end, a bitter defeat, or something that looks to the future? From there, you can look at how you want to frame the ending and work backwards from there to understand what kind of character development you want to incorporate.
Writing spiel aside, I'm honestly getting a bit of a cyberpunk vibe from the hair and eye colors and the piercings. You might be able to weave that into your main inspirations. There's a lot of interesting ideas and portrayals out there that you could pull other inspiration from. If anything, the affinity for fighting plus pit fighter inspiration kind of reminds me of the episode Sonnie's Edge from Love, Death, & Robots.
