A few years back, I was probably one of the few people on the site who had one of the largest wish list on site for the sole fact that I was going for the now retired Hoarding Unique Item Achievements so I had all items I need for that and also various other categories that I needed for other various aspects of the site.

One day in the frustration of having a wish list take ages to load, I stupidly deleted a few of the larger categories hoping they would clear from my wish list. Which they did in fact disappear from my visible wish list, they in fact remained attache to my account as if portraying that they were wish list items.

I'm not saying everyone has this type of situation but if ever the need arises and this situation should occur or for whatever reason a person has for clearing a wish list. I think a entire button to reset a wish list would be greatly appreciated and plus save many headaches from having to go through the database of 95% of the items that one can psychically achieve atm (CW's excluded).

I'm in two minds about this. The wishlist has gotten a lot easier to manage since those days. Its now paginated so it loads a fraction of a large wishlist at a time. You can also delete a full page of items pretty easily by clicking the select all box, then using the Bulk Edit drop down to select remove from wishlist. Granted, if your wishlist is really huge it could still take a bit of time to get it all done.

If a function was made to completely reset the wishlist to blank, I would want it to be labelled pretty clearly and a warning that this will remove everything! I'm just concerned that this would mess up more people than it would help.

also, if I read it correctly you're saying that when you deleted categories in your wishlist those items did NOT appear under the unsorted category and so now you have no way to remove them? If that's the case, you should probably submit a ticket so staff can clear your wishlist for you. That sounds like a glitch.

No I can technically remove them but that would be pain painstakingly going through the entire database and removing them one by one and refreshing after each removal to ensure it was removed entirely because I had multiples of one item on my wish list due to having different categories back then but yes I submitted a ticket when I made this board for the matter to be looked into, since I got to page 200 and was wasting too much time.

Yeah, that's ridiculous. You shouldn't have to do that. Whatever happened back when you deleted your categories was definitely glitchy.

I was looking back at past tickets apparently, I sent one in back in 2011 before I went on a 7-8 year hiatus and asked staff to delete the categories because it was impossible to load my wish list without a 504 error and well I assumed at that time the back end staff member that deleted them and I thought they removed the items as well.

I sent on ticket around the same time last year because even with the new system there is so much wait time to load it that it is insane but I thought it was because I still had quite a few categories left from my wish list that hadn't been deleted and I was able to remove those. Which upon reading the ticket stated I had over 14,000 items in my unsorted gallery but didn't clarify if they were visible. I thought the staff member noticed the items I had deleted from the visible wish list so I didn't bother to respond. :x

Which it wasn't until quite recently that I began to get sent items that appeared on my wish list but weren't on my wish list and began to put two and two together. Which I'm guessing those "14,000" were the actual glitched items :S

Deleting a wishlist category does not, from my understanding (and I just tested it), actually delete all those items from your wishlist. It just shunts them back into the "unsorted" category.

However, you can select all items within a category and delete them all at once.

I'm not sure if I support this or not. It's hard to imagine that I would ever want to delete my entire wishlist, but I suppose it's possible.

Yes that happens now it happened when I had to delete other categorries last year because of the imense lag with this current iteration of the wish list but I cannot say for certain if that occurred becuase I wasnt the actual person to delete those categories in the past version.

Which since they are on my wish list current but not visible to my wish list, either in a past version the items were not sent back to the default category or a glitch occurred at the time of deletion and removed those item from the wish list GUI but remained intact.

Which if it was a glitch in the first place and those items were suppose to go into the default gallery. This means history can repeat itself with anyone on the site and I rather not have someone suffer from that issue and ideally not have to make a ticket for an option that could easily do that for them.

I don't love this idea tbh. It seems like something too easy to misclick considering how few people I would expect to actually use it, especially since you can just select all and remove the items that way

I can see why you would want a delete entire wishlist button, but even that might not fix your issue since it was a glitch created by staff in the first place.

Invisible wishlist items really suck! But again, I don't think its an issue that would happen often enough to users to make it worth the hassle for people who would click it accidentally.

I agree there I could be the only sole person with this issue had the issue been a glitch. So I understand why those who have posted would not want to see this feature. Which to be honest this would probably be a 75 to 80 reason why anyone would want this feature and among any other reason as to why

However, we cannot really rule out if this was a glitch at this moment, or an intended result of what happened when you deleted a category in the past version of the wish list. I would have to wait to hear back from Bug about this issue.

If this were indeed not a glitch though and a byproduct of the old wish list deletion of categories. That would mean anyone who deleted a category in the past system. Would have invisible wish list items that do not show up on their wish list GUI not have any idea as to why something had a hover but wasn't actually in the GUI.

Which due to sheer luck of having so many glitched items on my account, is this issue being discovered. Which any user could have any number of glitched items.

If this feature is brought to fruition, I would suggest not having the option to remove all in the actual wish list GUI but a option within the account settings and also at least have a warning attached to the feature. To prevent mass deletion by a miss-click.

I know for sure that I've deleted categories in the old system, but I usually only delete empty categories. Its possible that I could have invisible WL items, but I'm not about to test it. So you're right, this could be something that affects a lot of others, but hasn't been detected.

Hopefully Bug will figure it out.

XD Trust me I don't blame you, after going through the database for hours to delete a wish list items and if you tried the same only to discover only one item was glitched you would probably want to strangle me or the closest person. :P

Wishlists are a pain and I totally get why somone might wanna do this. But this sounds like an "ask for help from Subeta's excellent staff" sort of situation.

I guess I'm not opposed to the Suggestion, but even though I hate confirmation pop ups if ever there was a function that needed one plus a warning page like now there is in the Abandon Pets section of Adopt-R-Us this feature would need both of those.

I'm pretty sure I was also one of those huge wishlist people before the overhaul. I have definitely, and on multiple occasions, deleted categories only to realize they got pushed back to my Unsorted. Which never made any sense to me. If I don't want the category then I don't want the items in it. If I had a problem with the name then I would just rename it. If I wanted to keep some items and delete other then I would sort through it one by one.

I also tend to use my wishlist as a sort of onsite checklist and every now and then I just get tired of it and want to clear it and start over, maybe change how I categorized things, especially if I go awhile without maintaining it. So I'm in support.

It sounds like something I'd click at midnight in a momentary brainfart or breeze through because I thought it was something else, so why read the pop-up warnings because I 'know' what they'll say?

I feel like this is something better achieved through a few clicks per category (go in, select all, bulk delete, move on) than by having a single button to delete your entire wishlist. I do NOT want my wishlist to suddenly go poof in a single mistake. It takes a lot longer to build one up than to tear it down.

My wishlist once had over 12k items in it. It still has 4.5k. Big wishlists aren't a problem if you manage them (although the introduction of pagination was wonderful).

If your wishlist is glitched, I highly doubt a new 'delete all' button would magically solve it. That's what tickets are for. Even if tickets were originally the source of the problem. xD

You'll get a private update soon <3 I'm just here to give my two cents on your suggestion as a programmer.

It seems like your issue was caused by an error made several years ago, and it shouldn't happen to anyone anymore nowadays, since the wishlist code has been revised and improved. We do apologize for that mistake and again you'll see an update from us on fixing that for you soon.

On the suggestion itself: since it's not an error people can change anymore, and since having a "delete all" button can be dangerous, we won't be implementing it.

However, I wanted to propose a compromise, after reading what people have said here.

Currently, if you delete a wishlist category, it just shoves all the items into your Unsorted category.

How about I add an option, like a checkbox or something, to delete all the items from your wishlist when you delete the category, instead of just putting them into unsorted? Would this be something people would like?

I would like this option. Most of the time, if I am deleting a WL, it's because I am doing a clean-up of my WL and I want those items removed, not moved to Unsorted.

Bruh. I mean, we have a select all but a one press button and a confirmation just to make 100% certain would be nice.
