A blanket complaint, not to get someone swarming in and going, "YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU DO X, Y AND Z IN THIS ORDER." Because honestly, no. Don't be that person. It's not that simple and no, I won't come in and grind when I get home.

Anyways, Keehauliday. I start training for my new, full time job on Monday, it's going to eat up most of my time coming up and on top of that, my net speed is pathetic and no chance of getting better anytime soon since I live in rural Pennsylvania. According to high speed internet providers, I don't exist because I'm 1/8th a mile from where the junction is.

Oh, well. So much for restocking this time around and probably most of Morostide and Lumi.

¯(ツ)

[edit]To whomever that anon was that sent me most of my Keelhauliday wl items: you didn't have to do that. This wasn't meant to be a "Gimme thing!" in the slightest. But thank you nonetheless. <3

pretty much, yeah. my net rates also abysmal (5mb/s at my peak) so i have no chance of getting stuff. then you deal with the scalpers who charge literally millions for a minion they got for 1,203sp.

i much prefer currency based shops that aren't battle of the modem, but people like competition i suppose? i don't bother restocking for the same reason. nor do i collect anything other than books for AP, getting it at the assigned price is just impossible.

i just kind of deal with it, its part of this sites experience for me. sounded jaded as fuck, but thats how the cookie crumbles for me.

For me, Keelhauliday is the least appealing holiday mechanics-wise. Which is a shame because I like the theme. 😕

I mean, it's one shop. One shop, with limited items stocked. During peak online times, at least 200-something users trying to grab something from it when it does stock. And there are likely people out there botting to get the Good Shit[sup]TM[/sup] first. Yeah, you can quest, sure! But even then you're rolling the RNG dice: will you get the new stuff, or the unretired restocking items from last year? Or will you get neither? Ditto with vending (does Keelhauliday stuff even vend???).

I do get it - gotta have a holiday that challenges people. Something that isn't just "click button whenever to obtain currency". I still wish there were more ways to get the pirate stuff. Anything consumable that's also an achievement item holds very high prices for a while. Great if you're hoarding & selling later! Shit if you're newer to the achievement game. idk, it'd be kinda neat to recycle Charity's mechanic with a limit: let users donate a limited number of food/drink items to Angrybeard or Dirty Matty per day to get some Keelhauliday goodies in return. There's no shortage of cheap food items & getting them through vending is always an option. Or, hell - slip the pirates some cold hard sP for a "mystery box". All these would be limited to preserve some item value, but they would be more options for those of us who can't restock for any reason, not just lack of time or bad internet speed.

Like, at least for Morostide and Luminaire, you can play at your own pace, and a decent bit of the non-achievement stuff is still at reasonable prices once the holiday's over. With Keelhauliday, either the shop stocks, or you're sitting there for 30 mins, refreshing and staring at an empty shop page. Woo. Exciting.

idk. It just feels like Keelhauliday is too much stress and pressure if you want to "do it right" & on the other hand, Fireside is boring af in terms of mechanics.

I've had a few new bits and pieces from Carl and Ocean Depths but I wish there were more ways of getting things as well. I'm hoping we'll have a day when Freyalise Trading is the Mystery Box.

I can understand why some people like Keelhauliday to be a restocking holiday but it's not much fun for people with (a) slow internet connections (b) disabilities so they can't cope with endlessly refreshing in hope of getting something and (c) very little free time to play.

I'm not buying anything from other players at the moment because a lot of the prices will be down at the end of the event.

I love this dumb shop, it's mad frustrating but that's why I think it's fun. Some restocks I get nothing, others I can get 3 books and a plushie. I mainly grab useables, (books, beanbags, etc) and so many of them have already come down in price to <1mil in a few days

I'm getting really fed up and disheartened. I've done 15 Carl quests since the event started and only have one new wig. He hasn't given me any of the new books but I'm up to my eyes in worthless retired junk. I've only had one new Keelhauliday item from all the other quests.

Fully agree. I'm fortunate enough to have decent net but I absolutely hate the restocking game; it's murder on my wrist, and as an adult I don't have a lot of free time to play so sitting there for an hour or more refreshing to grab stuff is just not feesable. I agree that different mechanics to obtain the items would be nice, and while the Carl quests are great they're hit or miss so :/

On a personal level, I hate this event too, I'm not any good at it. I've seen a bit of luck with vending at OD and carl quests - but only 1 beanbag and 1 book, otherwise its been only wearables.

However, that said, I really don't mind that they do it this way. Some players really love restocking, are really good at it. Why can't they have one thing?

One of my favourite things about this site is the variety of things that can be done. You can choose your area and specialize, you can dabble in everything, or you can specialize, get bored and still find something new years later. No one is ever going to enjoy absolutely everything onsite, and the site shouldn't be built that way either.

Still, I want more stuff! :P

I think Carl's quests need tweaking so he doesn't give out so much worthless junk from past years.

I disagree, I've gotten a lot of good retired things from him, I don't think it'd be fair for him to let out more new stuff. Just my opinion, though.

I was getting two to three new items from Carl everyday. I got this one the other day, too:

Today he gave me only one item though. Got one new item from Pete and one new item from Drills a couple of days ago.

The prices will go down, so hang in there everybody!
