It occurs to me that subeta is massive, and is filled with things to do, explore, read about, etc, many of which are hard to find if you're not looking. Even after playing for years (minus a few hiatuses), I'm discovering things I've never seen before, or had completely forgotten about. I'm proposing a daily news post by an NPC or staff with a link to something on the site or the subetapedia, and a small snippet of information about that thing. Help users discover new things they've never encountered (it would be particularly nice for new users, as the site can be quite overwhelming), or remind users of something they haven't engaged with in a while.
I'd also like to suggest using user-generated content for this feature. A stickied topic, or subforum, could be created specifically for this feature, with a form (see example below) for submitting a factoid. This would 1) allow for the new feature to be implemented without burdening staff as much, 2) engage users and allow them to contribute to the site in a controlled way, 3) allow for more varied content than one staff member would be able to generate. Staff would retain the right to edit suggestions as necessary, and could pick-and-choose suggestions to use throughout the year along with staff-contributed factoids. At the staff member's discretion, groups of related factoids could debut around relevant holidays or events (ie. masquerade-related factoids begin showing up in March), or all factoids could be distributed randomly throughout the year.
A new NPC (could host a contest to submit designs for them, similar to the design contest for the Bean Me Up NPC) could be created for factoids without a relevant posting NPC, and/or in place of using SubetaTeam for posts.

Subject: (Character, Plot, Items, Lore, Site Functionality, Cash Shop, Pets, Battle, Etc)
News Post NPC: name of relevant NPC or SubetaTeam

Factoid Text: 200 words or less describing an interesting factoid, using the link above.
How This Works
- Staff creates thread asking for suggestions.
- Users suggest factoids.
Example:
- Staff curates suggestions, and edits for content and/or tone (depending on NPC), if necessary.
- Suggestions appear once per day via a newspost. They could be randomly posted, or at a given time daily.

I'll chat with for some fun things we can do! I wouldn't want them too frequent to be annoying but it'd be a nice change up of content we can post!
We wouldn't open this up to users where they'd generate content, but it'd be nice to get an idea of what kinds of things they'd like to see out of it!
I'm glad you like the idea! There's just sooo much going on and it's easy to miss things! I just recently discovered Zombie Wrestling Entertainment via the dailies page and I'm like who??? are??? these cuties??? I'm sure there's a thousand other things I've missed or forgotten about, as a long-time user. It'd be awesome to highlight this stuff, and even more obvious info for newer players.
I'm glad you're still interested in taking user suggestions, even if ultimately the content isn't user-generated. I've been wracking my brains for ways that some of the work could be offloaded on users just for the fun of contributing, and also....because you guys work hard enough!
there's plenty parts of the site even old timers can be reminded of sometimes so here's some ideas -Most things on the Dailies page -The Delphi Museum of Modern Art -Delphi Carnival -The Genetech Lab and its relation to The Sable Smithy -Fantine's Bakery -The Shengui Guo floating market shops different mechanics -Rachelles Replacement and Repair -seasonal (achievement) reminders: Keep those moro pumpkins for fireside, You can release the fairies for achievements, Have some money saved up neugarten is coming soon, You can easely trade your extra morostide/fireside items with other users in the trade center, Have way too much event items? why not frag everything, What do you only have access to as zombie.
things that might also make good filler news: -Thread spotlight, it doesn't have to be as official (or as regular) as pet spotlight but it could be fun if the admins occasionally showcased for example a super good tutorial a user wrote or a thread on suggestions and ideas they would like lots more input on, maybe a thread where everyone was super nice to each other or a thread where someone asked a really good question. -Nostalgia lookbacks: look what this npc/page/item used to look like and how good it looks now.

It gives the good ol' "senpai noticed me!" vibes and provides confirmation that interesting topics haven't been missed by staff, which is always very nice! But on the other hand... spotlight and extra attention. :'D
If the user was always asked first if they want their thread to be featured, I think that'd take a huge amount of the anxiety & pressure off of people who might not want to have the spotlight pointed at them.
I really like the Nostalgia Look Back idea for old official NPC and pet art. That's a lovely trip down memory lane for really old users and it gives new users a glimpse into how the art has changed over the years! I know staff sometimes do it on the official Subeta twitter.

I would like this! I noticed that there was a tweet recently asking for feedback on this thread, but blasting it on the front page is a good idea too. I'm also biased and wouldn't mind if Staff spotlighted my biting directory during Survival.

Wow, I love all these suggestions! I hadn't even heard of some of these myself (Rachelle?) And I like the tips for events, and potentially the thread spotlight - especially for the big, thoughtful event guides that get created by users every year! Also the nostalgia posts!
I don't know when that was introduced, but I wish I knew more about it! I feel like I missed all the zombie-related plots somehow.
I would also hope that thread spotlights would be limited to certain types of threads, like holiday/plot advice, feedback, and other helpful threads that encourage input/views.

Some of those things you mentioned were things we had to do for this summer raffle event we had a few years ago. That was fun. Maybe we could have another, though it wouldn't be able to be called a summer raffle now because summer is nearly over.
I would say these posts with the information could go on the site's home page, but that page is only available when you're logged out. Maybe it could go somewhere on the explore page, just a small box with some information in it that changes each day?
