Am I weird to wish custom food items could be submitted and approved by staff to just be normal food items? like, say x artist draws it, and subeta accepts it and artist gets like csc per sale (like 1 csc a item sold), say item costs 10csc. i dunno if they would count to food achievements but I sooooo want custom food arts XD I know this is probably going to get a lot of "ehhhhh why" but pet treasures, gallery, and also, ITS CUTE FOOD ON DEMAND I think they should be unlimited though (not slotted), so theres that kind of worry, how would it originally get paid for, open to ideas, unless the staff viewed it as, like it costs X real usd to submit and the artist getting csc back would be their payoff....??
I mostly am fiending over more coffee items, more candy, more pasta, etc.... and wow some artists would do an amazing job.... Waiting to hear your ideas! <3
I'd like this for items of all sorts, honestly, not just food, I have a couple pets who I wanna do TCs for, but there isn't a desperately needed item in existence (Like needing an orange telephone specifically for Courtney Mann)
I agree on the thought of for any item and not just food. Mind you the staff to sort thru the items and for just 10csc might not be worth it to them. I mean would be just a ci, name, and description tho so would be easier than cws.
I like the idea. Would be interesting if they went that way.
I’m not against this, but any kind of new customs should end up in the Cash Shop as well. This would be per staff’s regrets regarding Custom Wearables and plans they wish they had gone through with. I’ll try to find the quotes on this matter.

I partially support this. Aside from the initial process of paying csc to get the item on site, I wouldn't want custom items like this to have anything to do with the cash shop. I feel like it would be better for said items to go into restocking shops of the submitter's choice and be distributed as regular items.
Other types of items aside from food would be nice to submit too.
Restocking shops are a good idea too! Avoiding privates would be the main issue to deal with.

Reminds me of custom items which we did have eons ago. Can't remember the pricing on them though
Oh I like that idea.
Instead of paying csc for each item juse choose the shop it restocks in or maybe just a special item shop if some stuff doesnt have a category? Aslong as the releaser can still get like a 'free' copy when the item is accepted.
This is a really interesting idea, but I do wonder how it would work out long term. CWs are very expensive to submit, and yet there are still thousands and thousands of those. Where would the flood of new custom foods/other items go? Even if they were a cash shop exclusive thing, finding a place to sell them on site would be an interesting challenge.
As a person that looooves drawing CIs (especially foods!), I'd love to see some version of this implemented! And I do agree, I think they should be unlimited and restockable or buyable via cash shop - available for everyone.
However, very few artists would be interested in getting paid "per buy" of the finished item. From an artist's perspective, I would treat drawing custom CIs the same as any other art commission, and expect a certain payment up front. I currently charge 500 CSC for a single CI, with an additional fee per recolor of that item, for instance. Also, even the cheapest CW (for example, nail polish) costs 1000 CSC to submit. A custom CI would probably cost at least that much to submit, as well, and if custom CIs are not slotted on like CWs are, then the person submitting the custom CI would have no ability to recoup costs and would be responsible for the entire price. Something to think about!
[edit] Perhaps Custom Item Shops could be implemented, one per user (the same as how CW shops are implemented). You submit a custom item, choose a category (food, etc), and then your custom item is available for sale at a set price in your Custom Item shop. Users would be able to search for items based on name or item type, similar to how the CW shop search is set up. When a custom item is purchased from a user's shop, part of the cost would go to subeta, and part of the cost would go to the user, just how CW shops split profits. This could help offset the submission costs a bit.
If desired, users could even set up "shop threads" similar to CWs to advertise or crowdsource the cost of submission. It could end up being another way to engage users on the site and make it more fun, like the CW community. ^_^ Or, in the same way, if users only want to submit things for their own use without engaging with the rest of the site, they could submit items on their own, no need to advertise or "take slots."
Ah i still wish this was a thing that would happen...but no idea if it could
Still love the idea of custom non-CW items for treasure chests, etc. Now that the CW rules and submission process are being revamped, I would love for staff to consider this idea as another new way to engage the site, especially the non-wardrobe crowd!
I'd like a different system than the CW one, because it sucks. I hate how CWs work.
You draw a custom item, and then, it gets instantly added to a section in the cash shop. :) I'd love custom items, but not if we're on the disgusting slotting system, where elitism and favoritism fester
I am under the impression that is working on an entirely new submission process for CWs that bypasses slotting for CWs, or at least makes it secondary. CW slotting was only ever intended to be a way to crowdfund the CSC for the submission, anyway.
I'd love to see some way to directly submit CI designs for personal use, for sure. I would imagine they'd be much cheaper, anyway, so taking slots to get enough CSC to submit them probably wouldn't even be necessary. Individual cash shops like the CW shops would be cool, or a big shop in the cash shop would also be neat. I have a feeling organizing them would be a difficulty that would have to be addressed somehow, since I imagine they'd be really popular for TCs and would be submitted en masse.
This might be a fun idea.
I normally would add wait until the CWs get revamped, but I used to say when foods from RL Asia were requested to wait for the Tea House, and that has been like four years ago now? So that was a stupid on my part.
I'm liking this idea in general, but really don't like how CWs currently work. Its impossible to find them, way too many little shops all over the place with no naming conventions. Too many unobtainable items - which beyond the basic issue of not being able to own something you want, makes it ten times harder to find things that are available because you have to sort through piles and piles of stuff that isn't really there.
I like the idea of having them all together in one shop. Of course there would have to be some kind of organization/sorting.
Then there's the item use issue - if you want these items to be usable (feed pet, read to pet) etc, that's a whole other layer of problems. Having them limited to TC fodder, on the other hand seems a waste of time and talent.
I think this idea needs to be very carefully thought out. Definitely see a lot of pros, but also a lot of cons.

At the risk of necroing it, now we have cheaper cws, I wanna make this a thing.
But really it might only if the cws are basically an unlimited item provided by an artist "by submitting this item you get a flat rate of 1csc per x number items sold for 20csc" (just an example you submit a mince pie and it costs a user 20 csc to buy) or something like, you can submit this cw art but it becomes subetas but you will be credited in a link under the item in shop (idk) and get free x nmbers of copies if its accepted. A whole jungle would be opening a whole cw food/minions market similar to the clothing market but without set caps etc...
This is an interesting idea, and I think that it could work. Maybe make the food item fit properly with a HA, so that it could be wearable as well. Then it could be considered a CW. But I definitely think that CWs with options of how to use them is a great idea.
