My understanding is that Major Drills is either a war veteran or a sadistic arsehole. 😂 If he is a war veteran wouldn't it be great if they changed the art to reflect that? Many soldiers lose limbs (their life, mental capacity, families eg) and adjusting Major's art to reflect that would be awesome. All that needs to be done is a wee tweak on his right arm. He can still be a man in charge without his lower arm. The dude is a taskmaster indeed.
That's interesting, though there are quite a few items with his image on the site that would need to be changed to reflect that. Also his battle image, but I guess that can easily be changed to his usual image since the Friendly Challengers have their usual images (Maybe the other NPCs you can fight could be changed to that too instead of having their battle images revamped).
He's supposed to be a Drill Instructor/Drill Sergeant, so even if he was in some sort of Subeta military he would likely have been more involved with training than actual combat.
I'm not opposed to having more characters with various disabilities, but maybe a new character would be better since like mentioned, there's a fair amount of artwork that would need to be updated for Major Drills.
In the lore of Subeta Humans, Ji-Meneb, Tehb and other Subetans don't fight. Pets do. (We don't seem to eat either).
This is a story that can happen to an NPCs pet perhaps.
It would be a cool amount of depth to an NPC who doesn’t get much development or “screen time” and could use some refining. Also does all of the art need updated if it happens to him during a plot or something like that? If it’s a new thing it doesn’t need to be retconned.
Most NPCs don't get much in the way of development. Burkhardt Brauer's and Skitters' missing arms don't have an explanation either.
I don't even know who Burkhardt Brauer is lmao. Time to google. Edit: Ahaha, Bubbles! That makes sense.
NPCs could use a lil more love and attention.
Speaking as a veteran, Major Drifts fits the Drill Sergeant archetype, (while officers arent drill sergeants they are present through boot camp and most will maintain the same intensity of a drill sergeant)
Basic training is created to literally break a group of men and women down to rebuild them as the military needs, in the Army (when I went through) they literally had 9 weeks to do so. They have to be strict, abrasive, and tough to instill the level of discipline that is needed as well as get the training in skills that each soldier must meet within that very short time frame. They must command that authority from day 1 and what you see depicted is how they must do it. Suggesting a drill sergeant or an officer in that cadre roll have a missing limb is not in the least practical because sadly that type of accident would either relegate a soldier to desk duty or have them chaptered out
That's a really good insight, thanks. Could Major Drills' current job as quest giver be the desk job he was relegated to?
