I was having trouble loading my forum image and discovered it's hosted on tinypic for some reason, went over there to check and saw their little notice. RIP image hosting sites! Most of mine are on either tumblr or google docs nowadays anyway, but I know I'll have some random stuff breaking when TinyPic goes.

TinyPic is shutting down in 2019
TinyPic is shutting down its image hosting service because we can no longer support a free service that derives 100% of its revenue from ever declining on-site ad revenues.
While you may continue to host images from our site until further notice, we encourage you to consider selecting one of the premium plans offered by our sister site, Photobucket.
Thanks for using TinyPic for your hosting needs over the years. We apologize that we can no longer continue providing this service, but Photobucket is a great option going forward.

That actually makes me sad to hear! Tinypic was my go-to no nonsense image host for years. I switched to imgur a few years ago, but back in the day tinypic had the smallest urls and the least bs you had to wade through to upload and go. Thanks for the reminder, I'll have to doublecheck my older stuff and make sure I've switched to a different host!

I like how they try to direct you to Photobucket, which is technically free but unless you pay they paste that ugly logo on all your crap. imgur is way better anyway, though. And I'm not surprised they couldn't support themselves on ad revenue alone, which is declining because people are moving to places like imgur where you don't have to go through an annoying process to upload a picture and more people are using adblockers which eat into revenue as well.

Hopefully people will get their stuff off there before it shuts down and it won't be charahub all over again where a lot of people didn't because they didn't know because they haven't used it in ages and didn't bother to check.
