Anyone make lucky stars here? I know there used to be a shop that sold them made into necklaces and such on this site, but I haven't seen it in a while. I'm just going to be getting into making them. I ordered some really pretty pearlescent paper from Etsy and it should come in the mail any day now. Any tips or tricks you can tell me about? How did you learn to make stars? Favorite paper sellers? Etc.?

I’ve made them, but I just used whatever I had on hand to make them, usually notebook or printer paper cut into strips to make them.

As for how, Uh.. I watched YouTube videos , XD. If you want, you can make jars of them. They follow the crane thing where you can make a wish on a 100/1000 of them. I just put ones I’ve done in the past in jars personally.

If you’re looking to buy origami paper for them, Asian grocery stores or stationery stores usually have them. I agree with Kinokuniya, since it’s always a pretty staple standard to buy that sort of stuff but places like Daiso have that type of paper too and it’s usually cheaper.

I've made them with star paper and other types of paper cut into strips. When I was younger, I used to buy the materials from Asian stationery shops like Morning Glory. You can even buy kits that come with instructions and decorative glass or plastic jars to fill. They're popular to make as gifts from girlfriends to boyfriends.

It should be easy to learn how to make them, especially if you're familiar with other kinds of origami. As a kid, I learned by just following the directions that came with the star paper. For Christmas, I threaded stars with a needle and embroidery floss to make a window decoration. I purchased the star paper at Kinokuniya.
