I would like to suggest there be 'account locked' forgiveness tokens you can find in the bathhouse pool. Every x number of days/months you earn one, maybe you can only earn them after 30 days? Maybe theres even a cooloff time ( can only be used once every 30/60/90 days? So if you miss a bathhouse day because real life (your power went off, it was your birthday and you checked it 20 minutes late, you were in hospital (or a loved one is, or the site was down before work but you didnt get home in time to get back online...or fell asleep...) you dont have to lose your streak. For those that say well thats not cool bc achievements - make achievements that say 'without using a bathhouse forgiveness token" or some such. limit a certain number per year, unsure... what are your ideas? :D Good idea, bad idea, suggestions? ^^ -Ligress <3

This idea, and various other similar schemes have been suggested before. I didn't support them then, and I still don't.

1. What's the point of a streak if its not "real"? Are you (generic you, not OP) proud of yourself when the other side throws the game? This feels the same to me.

2. There is one purpose to the bathhouse, that's to encourage people to log in every single day. And the rewards are pretty spectacular when you think about it. I don't think its too much to ask that you follow that one simple rule.

3. Yes, people will lose streaks (big and small ones) from time to time through no fault of their own, that's sad, but that's life. I lost a streak days before earning the 300 visit achievement, I've also lost a 500+ streak, so yes, I know its frustrating.

Anytime I see these kinds of suggestions, I cringe. Not because of the suggestions themselves but the responses which seem to be varieties of "This suggestion came into my house and cross-threaded all my bottles, drank all my juice and wrecked my bed." To keep it kid friendly.

In short, I'm all for making things a bit more friendly. Perhaps the forgiveness token unlocks after a certain number streak for a certain price?

One forgiveness token for each 180 days streak / 6 months is fair to me.

I sometimes miss Bathhouse because of my narcolepsy but having to play gacha games and MMOs, it's supposed to be login incentives! To keep people logging in. I mean, it's a bummer if you miss the streak but login bonuses are just, y'know. Login bonuses. (Nothing serious, it's just to get free stuff like the Ikumoradeekanox tree!) I'm not into the idea since it doesn't feel like a login bonus anymore, I guess?

For me, the only time "forgiveness tokens" would be given is when Subeta shuts down (mass 404 or lag) or during maintenance if ever.

I'm fine with something to keep streaks going -- there are unavoidable RL reasons that someone might miss a day and the highest achievement tier is enough of a hassle without having to restart when you're eight months in. The Item Hunt does it, so why not this? It could be an sP sink or something.

No support. You’re getting excellent prizes just for visiting the pools each day - there’s no sense in making it easier. The achievement isn’t meant to be easy to get. It takes quite a bit of dedication.

I lost a 700+ streak, and I don’t regret that! I missed a day (and have missed a few since then) and that’s on me.

There are ways to make it easier to remember, though - join the forum group to be pinged daily, make the pools your homepage, or write yourself a post-it. c: (I do none of these things, but I do have it as a pinned tab.)

I wouldn't mind something like a one-time freebie per active streak (so like, you get one chance to hold onto your streak if you miss a day, but then if you miss a second one, you get set back to day 1 with a new freebie for the next streak) and/or having a really long wait time before unlocking that chance.

I fuck up my streak constantly and I'll probably never get the achievements anyway, but I feel for people who manage triple digits or more and then lose it

It can actually be a good sp sink, maybe at the new pools that makes you're pet hungry. It'll cost 10k per day so if you're having a 750 days streak, you'll pay 7,500,000 sp

No support. In terms of prizes, it's no big deal to lose the streak, since the cycle repeats every 30 days, and in terms of the streak... well, that's the point if it, to keep it without cheating. If you can't, then you can't, not all achievements are meant to be easy. And I say that after losing triple digit streak myself.

I would support something like this. Duolingo, a language learning app, does something similar with its streaks, where you can buy a "streak saver" with its currency in case you accidentally miss a day.

Thing is, people act like a streak freeze or streak forgiveness would make people less likely to login each day, but I disagree. A one-day streak saver would help to encourage people to keep logging in, because it would allow them at least one chance to bypass bad days and continue on. If people continued to not login for several days, a one-day streak saver would be useless, because it could only save you for one day. But if someone forgot or got distracted until it was too late, they could still save it.

Look at me: I've logged into this site every day this summer. And yet I only have a 19 day bathhouse streak because I keep thinking I have already visited on a day and the whole three hour time difference between me and Subeta often throws me off.

On the contrary, I think a one-day streak saver, available sparingly, would actually encourage people to login more. If someone has a really nice streak going, and then they suddenly miss a day, they might be very frustrated at the reset and be discouraged to continue. But if they have the lifesaver, they can use it when needed and continue growing the streak. In fact, they may even be more encouraged to be more diligent about logging in every day for a while after that, because they know they've lost their freebie and need to be more careful.

I imagine, once you have obtained the one-day streak saver (however that is obtainable), when you visit the Bathhouse after missing a day, you would be greeted with a message like this:

The user could then decide if the streak was worth saving or not. For example, if the streak was only for a couple of days or weeks, the user might want to hold out until several months were on the line. This would be especially true if streak savers were hard to obtain, and if you could only have one streak saver at any given time.

If the user has been gone for several days, or they simply forgot to visit the Bathhouse for several days, they would not get this opportunity and would have to start over. It would only be available to save the streak one day.

It's also the very first link on the Dailies page linked to on the News page. That's how I finally finished my 300 day streak today after having to start over twice (and flying three time zones away a couple of weeks ago which had me quite nervous about missing a day). Some people have the Dailies page bookmarked as the first one they go to on the site.

The Dailies page should be all the hand-holding Subeta has to do to remind us.

There are several ways to fix that. If you go on the computer daily simply make the bathhouse your browser homepage on all your devices. Then anytime you open your browser, bam, you're at the bathhouse.

Alternately if you use a calendar app, you can set it to ping you daily at a certain time. Doesn't matter what time you set it wrt to Subeta time since you if you do it daily, you're done.

You can also set a bookmark to go there directly, and even if you compulsively check, you're more likely not to miss.

Join the bathhouse ping group and don't delete the ping until you actually go there.

There are probably a hundred other ways to remind yourself that will work for your life/habits.

this has been suggested so many times and I just don’t really see the point tbh. the achievements don’t really mean anything if you can just buy a token for it, and if you’re not going for the achievement then the absolute MAX you’re gonna be behind is 29 days, because the prizes just roll over every 30 days

imagine if you could do this w Melody’s cottage? what’s the point of a streak based achievement if you don’t actually have to keep the streak? this isn’t some vendetta against users who break streaks like suggested, but like I literally just don’t see the point

ps this is coming from someone who lost a streak a week before getting to the 300 achievement. started it the next day and haven’t lost it since, got the 300 one a few months ago

reminders don't really help if you physically can't access the site for one reason or another, like if your internet is going slow/not working or if you have some kind of physical condition.

i've lost several streaks due to the horrible, lazy mistake of... having chronic migraines. things happen! a single day skipped for a particularly long streak, not because you forgot but because you literally could not perform the action to maintain it, isn't really fair either. if you have the 'forgiveness' option be locked to that specific day and give it a cooldown (so you can't come every other day and reap the same rewards), it's just a safety net for the fact that people have things going on that can stop them from coming on subeta.

also i guess unpopular opinion but: clicking a link 300 times is. not really much of an achievement to begin with! this isn't a srs hardcore video game where achievements are taxing and complicated. it's a pet website. it's not a slight against you or an elaborate means of cheating the system that some people, in fact, clicked the link 299 times instead of 300 because they had a power outage one day out of most of a year.

I want this. I don't need this, but man would it be nice. There are a handful of times where I DID log in that day but didn't go to the bathhouse because I just plain forgot. Sometimes if I'm really busy, I'll log in quickly, check all my social and see if I have payment pings and just log out. It's not that I don't want to enjoy myself on Subeta, it's that I just had a really insane day and couldn't.

I don't think this destroys what the purpose of the bathhouse is. I'm not asking for an unlimited amount of these but nothing is more souring than missing 1 day when you're in 100-200 day streak and having to start all over again.
