I thought something like this could be fun. The Tormigard players are thieves, smugglers, assassins and spies while the SAI are security/police.

The SAI side shouldn't be limited to players with pets who have SAI jobs. Also, players with pets who have SAI jobs shouldn't be obliged to join the SAI team.

We could have a range of team activities to suit as many player abilities as possible - restocking, battling, questing and playing games (all games should count for this because some players can't manage arcade games for one reason or another.). Can anyone think of more activities?

The actual plot should be up to the staff, of course.

I've been here for 10 years and always wondered what the heck SAI was/was about. Bringing them to the forefront like this sound cool.

The pirates of Omen Islands are already pirates. Not that the Tormirgaard couldn't also be, but we don't know that they would based on the Counsilor's Cruise. so it's be a change.

The SAI has always been a catchall sorta place. I think they may have started out as part of a war. Later it was accepting "sun" items for awhile. It was part of the Great Pandemic investigations. They have ahold of NPC Gunter Brauer right now.

I'm going by these two paragraphs in the Arctic Frost section of the Subetapedia.

Quote
. However, unlike their neighbors, the Tormirgard are less likely to rely on a fair hand-to-hand duel, and far more likely to resort to subterfuge. They find no dishonor in besting an enemy with wit and trickery alone, and so thievery and assassinations are not uncommon when a dispute over property or honor rears its head. The architecture of their cities reflects this way of life, with many dark alcoves and networks of narrow alleyways to disappear into at a moment&;s notice.

Rarely spoken about, but no less a reality, are the darker trades that bring business to the Arctic Frost. Because of the lifestyle of the Tormirgard, the Arctic Frost is also an excellent place to find cut-purses, assassins, smugglers, and spies.

The Councillor's Cruise is easily explained - tourists aren't taken to those areas of Arctic Frost where the assassins, cut-purses, smugglers and spies are.

Quote
The Arctic Frost currently relies on eco-tourism for the majority of their business, and business is booming for them, as there is no shortage of people wanting to see Tutani, Anyu, and Jollin in the wild. While less common, fishing and hunting tours are also a major business in the Arctic Frost, though those wishing to participate must have all appropriate licenses and permits.

Wait, what. Who does what now. I didn't know half of this and I've been here over nine years?

I hate restocking wars because I'm always going to lose out with my craptacular net but the rest sounds awesome.

I just found the entry in the Subetapdia but I don't recall any event which mentioned the Tormigard and their neighbours the Ytivi. The SAI was started by Darkheart Phantom but there's very little about the SAI organisation anywhere unless I haven't found it yet. I think It would be interesting to hear more about it.

I thought a wide range of activities would give people a choice of what they could do for their team so nobody would have to do something they don't enjoy. Battlers could battle while people who don't have battle pets could do something else. Others could do a bit of each activity if they felt like it.

Then count me in. The past events have seemed rather... skewed for RSing.

Maybe the Rotten Rogue could turn up in the plot. She's now in a Tormigard city and running a thieves den or something else related to her profession.

I'm all for more plot, especially if there's sneaky intrigue to be had!

I've been here since 2012 and I also don't know anything about SAI. It would be nice to see it involved in a plot again.

That could be fun as well. There's some confusion about Blackmoon and Atebus, though, which needs sorting out.

Subetapedia entry for Calvin Blackmoon

Quote
Calvin Blackmoon (CAL-vin BLAK-moon) is the young dictator of Atebus, cousin of Sebastian Phoenix, and president and CEO of Blackmoon, Inc., the company responsible for the manufacture of cadogres and endeavors.

little Calvin&;s plan was to amass an army of robots, pets and owners to assault the moon Atebus. He built massive amounts of cybernetic creatures to aid him, and lured many pets and owners to his side with promises of power and glory. Years went by as he secretly built his army and schemed against Atebus.

When the blow against Atebus finally came, it was absolutely crushing. Though the forces of defense on Subeta&;s moon put up a good fight, they were decimated by Blackmoon&;s superior numbers and weaponry, and Calvin&;s own brilliant strategical mind. The war was over in a matter of days.

As Atebus had been a strictly experimental settlement, the loss was quietly accepted by Subeta&;s government and quickly covered up. As for Calvin, he set out to build a sprawling technologically-dependent city on the moon.

Meanwhile, Atebus Revolution Masquerade

Quote
Many consider Atebus home today, but it wasn&;t always so. Some centuries ago, the Subetan monarchs, looking to expand their empire, planted colonies on the yet unexplored moon. The colonies flourished as they mined its resources and traded with the indigenous people of Atebus. Over time, the colonies industrialized their towns and developed their own technologies based on steam.

While Subeta&;s rulers had until then enjoyed good relations and a steady inflow of resources from its colonies, they became uneasy when they saw how powerful their once small colonies were growing and what kind of technology it was developing. Wary, they resolved to be more watchful and began putting various regulations in place. These colonists, who by now had started to develop their own culture and no longer felt a part of the Subetan empire, resented being placed in a stranglehold. They continued to develop their technologies in secret and plotted to break away when they were powerful enough to challenge this authority.

The revolution was successful but it means that Atebus was more than just an experimental settlement. Maybe both sides (Subeta and Atebus) rewrote history. :) Blackmoon successfully invaded Atebus a long time after the revolution but nobody on Atebus likes to mention him. :)
