After being on Subeta for years just lurking I’ve been trying to be more proactive when I don’t know something, and find answers or just ask. But... one little thing makes finding answers (to things I’m sure people have asked before) so hard. It can feel like half the threads in the help forum or the css help forum are titled “done” or “can lock.” And sometimes even worse, people will go edit out the posts where they asked the questions!

Please please leave your thread title up for future reference! For posterity and those who probably will have the same question later, please title your thread with the question for easy browsing/googling, and don’t edit it out later. It drives me a lil bonkers clicking through threads trying to find out what someone was asking, in case it answers my questions too.

Oops I hit submit too soon, sorry for the initial typos. :p Fixed

I agree with this

Just add (done) to the end or (answered) or (solved)

Leave the title/question OR FOR HECKS SAKE AT LEAST THE POST just modify it

I agree. We should be able to use that forum for reference and not have to wade through the threads or post another thread.

I usually try to leave the topic in the title somewhere if I think it'll be useful, but I won't if it's something that was already mentioned somewhere and I just overlooked it. But I agree that especially with no forum search, it's hard to find answers without making a new board for everything.

Guilty of it. I'll do better but that's how it was when I started on here near ten years back.

But my particular favorite is how there's rules against using the bold and italic codes for some reason and people still use them. But I think that's more suited for feedback than a b&c thread.

Guilty as charged and not changing for the foreseeable future. I change thread titles to keep track of what's answered and what isn't for my own convenience.

I don't know how many times I see the same question asked again and again. I start to write up something along lines of its been answered - look just two threads below, and go to copy the reference thread, only to find that the thread title has been changed and the poster simply couldn't have known the answer was right there.

If you're going through the bother of editing the title, how difficult is it to simply add {answered} instead of obliterating the whole thing?

I totally agree as a new player looking for information! Thanks for bringing this up!
