I'd love to know how you artists are able to draw with so much detail items that are so small (like 164 x 164 and smaller), I mean I understand about resizing but still... How do you manage it and not lose the clarity of your work I'm truly convinced at this point it's voodoo magic ;)
The long term answer is "Practice". And I know people HATE to hear that because they want to know how they can do it NOW, but that's the truth. You have to start somewhere and work your way up to it.
Here is some of my art from when I first started drawing items;

And here are some recent examples of my artwork in comparison;

At this point I've drawn well over five thousand item images and wearable overlays. I've drawn them for fun, for commissions, and even for work on other sites.
If this is something you want to get into, I strongly suggest looking into the CW discussion forums and looking for some tutorials, there are plenty available that will give you some clues on where to begin your personal journey with it. Here is a link to a post with tutorials in it; ">LINK
Thank you for sharing this with me (and the link) it's not something I'm personally doing, god knows I have no talent for the sort of work you and others do. I'm just curious how you get the detail in such small pictures, do you start with a large picture and some how resize? Again not something I'd ever do, as I've said no talent and no patience lol. I'd also like to add your work is beautiful and mind boggling again with the detail! Think I've found my new favourite shop... off to WL nearly everything lol
I draw twice the size you see, and then shrink it!
Here is a working size versus the finished size!;

Some people draw a bit bigger than that and resize, but I personally find if I stick with only twice as big, less of my details get eaten when I resize :) But mostly it's just been trial and error over the years of figuring out what amount of detail works and what does not. I used to zoom in and zoom out a lot haha. But now, the program that I use allows me to make an accurate preview of the size it will be while I work on the bigger size, so I can see in real time exactly what it's going to look like! :)
If you're curious about some of the actual Subeta artists, some of them have dAs or tumblrs! I only know of one of them off the top of my head and that's ; Here is their dA! it is full of working size items, pets, and opponents and is wildly inspiring to look at!
And thank you so much for the compliment ToT!!
Your early items art looks like something I'd draw in my art software. So I'm assuming your improvement happened over a few years?

I started drawing item images I believe about 10 years ago, so yes, it has taken quite a while to hone that skill into what it is today :) I think that milk carton one was one of the first ones I've ever drawn, and I drew it at that size x'D I didn't know about resizing yet or anything =P
Yet again thank you so much for taking the time to reply and especially with so much information I appreciate it immensely. has to be a Subeta artist, correct? And OMG the work seeing it on the link is so awesome, now I know I can't and never will aspire to this but I can live vicariously through you guys lol.
Wow there's a program that lets you see things in real time, is that the SAI program? I'm just learning SAI 2 as I recently bought a tablet to do cleaner work on Pet Profiles (I have osteoarthritis in my hands and using the mouse was killing me) and I'm seriously having a senior moment trying to visualise the program up and running lol.
Yes! is an official artist! They're one of my biggest inspos so x'D I feeeeeel you.
Yes, Sai allows you to make a second window preview that you can zoom in to! Since I use double the size to work on, I can zoom in to 50% and see exactly what I'm doing and it's so useful ToT
Just make sure to take lots of breaks with the tablet. It can be just as damaging to use a tablet as a normal pencil and paper if you draw for long periods of time! I learned that the -oh so hard way-. x'D
