I just blew 35 millions in coins for the Centropolis Machine to make this post, so hopefully I'm not too far off the mark.
SOLUTION : Have all attempts give you AT least a small amount of money for your trouble.
Second, the item rewards are alright, but it would be nice to have a small chance to pull a retired SBQ item from it. I got a couple regular SBQ items from it, and it would make the deal sweeter than getting one of the 20K exclusive items from the machine
Finally, you cannot get a speed increase from the coin machine. Every other stat, including intelligence, can be increased by the coin machine, but not speed. That absolutely should be fixed.
Does it still give the "Oh, look! The coin popped back out!" outcome obnoxiously often (I once had it happen 4 times on the same coin 😫)? I had reducing its frequency added to the usability and random improvement a while back, but it is still up there so I don't know if they lowered that probability yet. I would even be for removing it entirely, honestly it is only funny the very first time when you don't see it coming.
Maybe adding tiny amounts of event currency (1 to 3 coins) as prize would also be a nice way to freshen up the coin machine.
Way too often, for real. This is an outcome that should just be cut.
I had to do a bit of thinking, but I am on board with this general idea if not the retirement of the coin machine as a whole.
As far as I know the only way to obtain the coins for the machine is random events and buying them from other players. This lends itself to a predatory system; users who have been here and know the horrendously low output of the machine are more likely to sell their coins via user shops or exchange them for other things based on user shop value instead of spending them in the machine, and those buying the coins or accepting them as payment are majority users who don't know any better. Yes there is some percentage wanting them for TC's and the like, or buy them to resell for profit depending, but generally they're bought to be used and using them isn't worth what they're being sold for.
This really needs to be changed. Better prizes need to be added to the potential pool, and the amount of sP earned needs to increase. And also yes, the annoying message of the coin popping back out needs to just be done away with because back when I didn't know any better and would throw the coins in as soon as I got the random event I once had it happen 5 times in a row before I gave up and went back to it half an hour later only to have it happen 3 more times before it gave me a dang prize >.<
i would be sad if the coin machine was retired, i like low-stakes gambling with these and the pinatas and such, so i keep up all my coins and use them up in a spree. (low-stakes gambling for intel is the best w )
i'm ambivalent re/ sP gains since i don't buy my coins (i think i've only bought them once, for a tc), but i'd be down for a wider/more interesting item reward pool. also down for getting rid of "oh, the coin popped out!" cos yeah, that's nonsense after the first five times it happens.
I don't support removing it altogether - there is so little actual gambling, now, and it's not CSC based, so that's a bonus! :D While not a SP sink, it's still pretty dang enjoyable on its own!
I can see coins shooting up in price if you add old SBQ items into the prize pool. :x Some really old SBQ items sell for a meaty price. Then again, if you mess with the prize pool, the price is going to shoot up no matter what, so...
I do like the idea of lowering the odds of getting the coin back. Also possibly have a very low chance of getting your reward and getting the coin back. And a very low chance of the machine eating your coin and not giving you anything. Because that is how machines do. Maybe add the low chance to get old, retired Holiday Shop items?
The sP prize is miserable and I wouldn't mind it being gone completely. I feel that the biggest winner was always gaining int points from the coin machines.
Waitaminnit wut, who is accepting these as payment and why does their opinion control you? They're not marked as Currency rarity. Maybe the right solution would be to call them slugs or discs instead of coins, that way there's no confusion? Just because some user may think it's worth market price to them, does it matter if they're "actually worth" what they sell for? Nobody is required to accept anyone else's opinion of what Subeta's items are worth, nor should they be.
The thing about Treasure Maps is that people thought they should yield more/better prizes, and so did increase the prizes. By a lot. Twice. What happened, the price of them went up higher than they paid out, in short order. Because users who like to gamble will pay for that. Treasure Maps are higher stakes gambling than Coin Machine Coins. A game of assembly and then random chance it's boring as fuck to me even if they paid out what they cost in users shops I wouldn't normally do them, because Subeta's a game and not RL or a job. They're just not fun to do. But there's an Achievement attached and I'm a slut for Achievements those are very fun to do, for me. So I readily and willingly bought a ton of them for more than that game pays out and I knew that was what I was doing.
Heck over the last two years I've been buying Vesnali Flowers off-season for 50KsP or less. Did the gamble pay off with the new bouquets/current going rate for Vesnali Coins: hell yeah it did. It was a huge gamble of 400MsP and there was no promise of return nor did I expect one nor did I blame or demand Subeta for not coming out with new bouquets last year. Now that's my kind of high-stakes gambling.
Some users like high-stakes gambling. So what if they do? Don't close it down just because some other users don't like to do that, and don't suppose there's something wrong with their buying decisions. What they do with their scrip is not your business.
The original post is written as if the price that these items sell for is officially determined. It is not. I charge what I'm pretty sure someone will pay me for them from experience selling them, but this doesn't mean they're worth that much to me nor that I permanently believe anyone other random user must believe that that's what they're worth. It is NOT a certain and necessary part of the Subetan economy that I or any other user do do that. (yeah, I said doo doo). It is NOT a certain or necessary part of the Subetan economy that staff or site rules should force us to sell anything at the price that the OP thinks they're worth. Because maybe, they're wrong.
I get quite a lot of coins from random events and the bathhouse. The only thing that annoys me is having to load quite a few pages to get to the machine, but I've asked the staff if they could add it to the games page and they said they could do that, so hopefully that will happen soon.
I'm mostly okay with the prizes the machine gives out, but I am dying to have the "Oh, look! Your coin popped back out!" result removed. Like, I'm just gonna keep jamming that coin back in, you might as well give me the prize on the first go.
I agree the speed stat should be added in. I agree the coin popped back out should either be done away with, or become very, very rare.
Other ideas might be a nice addition/update but I'm not too excited/interested in them.
I never buy coins, just occasionally gather up a bunch I've gotten in various ways for free and use them. That way, it may be gambling, but its always a win since I didn't pay anything for them (and can't be bothered to sell them).

I don't know. I feel like it's just a bonus when you get a coin from an RE. Obviously the coins are buyable in shops, but I don't ever buy them for the sake of trying it.
Though, having a size pool of some retired SBQ would be nice (how are other really old ones released?)
I'm working on sprint stuff for June right now, and great news I'm killing the dumb UR COIN POPPED BACK OUT. I'll adjust some of the payouts, but it's not going to be anything too crazy.
Hey, I don't know how related it is, but do you think you could also fix Scratchcards? The reward of "coin" gives you ANY item with the word "coin" on it. Not necesarily coin machine coins. You have no idea how sad it is to get a or a . Do you think we could make it so that it ONLY gives the following coins? (I deliberately left out "Slots Coin" because the slots already provide an excessive surplus of those).
* * * * * * *
*Old coins that don't work anymore. I do not think these should be permanently retired, but maybe they could be rarer? Like a 5% or 10% chance of getting those instead of a regular coin.
i'd keep it the way it is cos you have a chance at or , and since we're already gambling with scratch cards a chance at those is worth the risk of a creeping coin
Those items are from other sources tho. Getting them from scratchcards is devaluing them. Particularly , which is worth beans compared to what it should, being a Token Shop item.
i doubt either is going out enough through scratch cards to seriously effect their prices; the monkey has been in the token shop multiple times and isn't that expensive. if they were going to exclude anything, it should be the costume trunk coin (which will probably never be "worth" 500 csc at this point), but they didn't, and this isn't the only thing like that -- i pulled a bunch of from the cast iron stoves at one point (it was something like 1 sweater in 150 stoves). i just think stuff like this is a nice treat.
Regardless of that, it's still not fitting. Scratchcards only want to introduce coins. Which imakes sense because coins are the item that needs the most access to the economy (SPECIALLY now that they award rarity 101 items).
Amber said she would look into my suggestion and change the scratchcard price pool. We can only hope.
