I was thinking...
If we had the ability to delete old forum topics, that would open up some space on the servers? I also like the option to delete a comment (kind of like facebook). So, if you don't like something a user has to say, you can simply delete it instead of having the comments turn into a debate war.
What do you guys think? If I'm wrong, please tell me (won't be offended).
P.S. Another idea is to keep only the most recent years in your topics (ex: 2018, 2019)
bad idea, people could post stuff and delete it and people would be none the wiser, other than staff who can see deleted posts anyway. i think it would just cause even more drama than we already have, but thats my two cents
also being able to delete others comments is way too powerful imo
also, there are relevant stickied topics dating back several years that still have pertinent information, so all and all this is a no support from me.
Deleting other users comments because you personally don't agree with them defeats the entire purpose of them coming to the forums anyway, or having a debate or discussion. The forums are already dead as is can we not

Alright so deleting posts has a recent board: Ability to delete your own posts which has a staff response.
The comment deleting part is new otherwise I would lock this board up as being a duplicate of the board mentioned. On the same grounds as the forum post deletes I highly doubt this would happen. Only staff can remove a post.
Yeah I would not be in favor of deleting old forums. That is why when we can we lock them up. S&I's rule sticky is form 2010 but gets updated. Your way would have it deleted. There are also many guides .etc that are updated despite having an old timestamp.
No support for Comment deletion. You are allowed to Preview. Considering what you write before you actually hit post is a valuable skill that shows a certain minimum respect for the people you are talking to. All users should at least try doing that a little bit. even if Site Rules do not require it.
If you find yourself not liking Comments you hvae made, get into the habit of using Preview button and re-reading what you write.
Can we delete people's comments on our profile? I don't have them displayed so I don't know. I could see an argument for that.
The only time I wished I could delete someone else's forum post was when someone spam posted on one of my threads. It would be cool if staff could delete those, but spam is so rare here I see why it's not a priority, it's only happened to me once.
True. I just thought I'd throw the ideas out :)
I assume the security risk is that someone could delete other peoples posts and site moderation concerns is that rule breaking posts may be deleted and never noticed as user could not see the posts and mods may not be able to ban the account or something like that? is this right?

yeah, we can delete user comments on our profile, but i feel being able to delete user comments on a thread you made is a lot more severe than deleting something that (usually) only you see, as apposed to the entirety of subeta being able to click on. i know there are comment lurkers, which is why i say usually, but if comment deletion was implemented on user threads, its a very open space that anyone you havent blocked would be able to access.
