This would make book searching so much easier. Much like we can put items straight in to collections and our wardrobe, it would be awesome to select a pet to be your reader and be able to read to them once you purchase. It could be a fun new GA perk, a fast track to a smarter pet. :)

You could also do the same for those who have gourmand pets. When they purchase food from shops or restock they can feed it straight away to that pet.

So...this sounds like a twofold suggestion. One, have some sort of coding or setting wherein one pet is set as "the reader" and then functionality created so that a book can be read to the Reader Pet from the purchase page, am I right?

To be honest, I'd have to say...kinda no support. I read books to all my pets and don't want to specify one Designated Reader Pet because I'll still have to go through the same process we do now for the other pets who AREN'T the Designated Reader. Also I'm unsure which page this link would appear on. If it slows down or clutters up the restocking process, definitely no support.

I think this would work best if it was based on your active pet.

I know not everyone reads/feeds things to their active pet, but you can change them fairly quickly, there's little to no cache on changing your active pet and coding-wise it's a starting point that already exists and doesn't need to be done from scratch.

As a GA perk? Sign me up, I have 70-something pets that need to be read to for job levels and scroll AP, so this would be a huge timesaver.

[edit]Another thing to consider: this is going to get super confusing.

If "reader" pets get added, there's likely going to be an "eater" pet in the future because gourmand exists. A "battle" pet because battling exists. An "event" pet because people might want REs to go to a specific pet. So that's 4 pets that take part in various activities you do with your pets, but they're not your active pets. I can see new users getting confused. It just really seems counter-intuitive to start splitting things of that way instead of using an existing system.

Yes, but for people who focus on specific pets and their gourmand or their book reader, that was the purpose for this. :) It allows you to swap your pets if you wish (it's not a permanent feature or it could cost a little sP to swap) but it allows you to build up their book smarts without the hassle of guessing if they've read something or not.

I always wondered why read/feed your active pet wasn't an option, so I'd be definitely in favour of something like that. And if it was a gold account perk, it would be definitely something that would make me renew it more frequently, too.

So much yes. And I would prefer it -not- be tied to an active pet. It would be best if the "read to" option functioned just as it does in inventory, where only the pets who have not read the book show up in the list. I know nothing about coding/the feasibility of this, but I do know that with 36 pets it takes FOR-EV-ER buying books from the book nook/wherever and remembering the specific amount of each book I need to finish reading that book to all my pets, especially in a restocking situation where only 3 are stocked but I need 11, and then I have to remember which books I need more of...

Oh that would be great too but I think it might be too much of an overload of already slow servers. I know they took away the ability to parse people's wishlists with your own wardrobe a while ago because it was causing more lag. (even though I really miss that feature. Made lumi shopping so much better. :c)

's point of having too many types of "active pets" is valid. I can barely keep track of my active pet, never mind trying to figure out "reader pet" "eater pet" etc.

Was just coming here for this. I would really love this feature. Even if it's not a read to now feature. I would be just as happy with just a block checkmark that let us know if it's been read or not.

I’d like this idea a lot, and as someone who has an active pet that isn’t priority for eating or reading, but needs the random stat boosts from random events, I’d love if we can pick which pet gets the books by default. It doesn’t seem too confusing or hard to keep track of.

Idk if this feature will ever be implemented but I personally would find it very useful.

I'm of two minds, Personally I'd want it to be tied to the active pet because my lazy self uses her active for everything: battle, reading AND feeding, but I understand that not everyone is super lazy like me. And because I am lazy I would love this feature to happen because it's less work for me when I buy a ton of books and then I have to CLICK so many times ohmygoodness. Seriously though... support.
