Subscribe button for the different forums themselves

Any chance to be able to subscribe a forum? Example: If I subscribe to the adoption forum, I will get a notification every time a new thread is created there. It would be useful for threads where you have to be there first.

If the forums pick up in activity (like if the forum giftboxes are brought back again), and you get an event whenever there's a new thread in a particular forum, I can see this getting very very annoying and very taxing on the servers. ._.

And you think it would be that stressful on the servers? I don't know. After all, there are notifications for scratchcards, and those are sent 5 mins.
For scratchcards, it's not hard to check back after 5-10 minutes. An alert about a new topic that's sent out to everyone that subscribed to a particular forum, whenever a new topic is made? If users go inactive, they won't be able to change their settings and they'll still get events pushed to their accounts when new topics are made.
The forum pulse is that box you see on the top of the main forums page. If you edit the settings, you can check which forums and subforums you want to get notifications for when a new post, or a new topic is made. You only see the notifications on the main forums page, though! It's not pushed sitewide as an event for everyone.
Well, I mean, it could be like the scratchcards notification. If you don't check the board, you will not get any more notifications. That could be like the shop purchase notifications as well. If you don't check your shop or just close notifications, you don't get any more from them to prevent server bloat.
Forum pulse only works on the forum main page tho. So I cannot get to see it when I'm playing or something like that. Maybe a forum pulse widget?
Inactive accounts would still get the events, and last I checked with , events piling up and not getting cleared (ex. inactive accounts) is an issue. So if you were subscribed to the advertising forum, adoption forum & the suggestions forum, along with having shop sales events on & having friends who gave you flowers & kisses for site events, and you went inactive for a year, you would probably come back to 300+ events. 😬
The site is sadly moving away from widgets with the incoming layout revamp. :c
YOU WHAT. I can't live without my notepad widget! I use it all the time. Will they delete them? No way. Widgets are a way to customize the page, they can't simply scrap it!
I don't think they'll scrap them entirely because so many of us use and love widgets for their functionality (notepad widget 4 lyfe), but I haven't the foggiest what they'll be replacing them with, or how they'll be integrated into the new layout.
Just in case here is a recent quote. But yeah unfortunately what your are describing is the forum pulse. And new widgets are probably not going to be a thing.
<p>I know several parts of the current layout seem to have been neglected (for instance, sidebar widgets are another area we no longer update for the most part) but it&;s largely because we are actively working on their replacements behind-the-scenes. We would rather devote our resources to making sure the replacement is as well-done as possible when it is released.
Do you think they will have a work-around? Widgets are extremely useful. Like the oracle one, or notepad. As well as shop search. This is off-topic but still important.
Yeah this is off-topic and unfortunately I am not staff and cannot speak on their behalf, and this not something I can comment about. I was just reiterating what has been discussed and mentioned but not yet 100% confirmed this past year or so. There is on Subeta's Twitter and Facebook some screenshots of various layout revamp ideas and none of them had widgets in it.
On the related topic of forum subscriptions. Is the forum pulse enough as it was recently brought back and tested to work?
