I recently started work with a new company, and, unexpectedly, it seems I may have to try my hand at some graphic design. Right now I'm working with paint.net, just using my mouse and keyboard, but work has offered to buy me a tablet, which I think would be an excellent idea, because a mouse just doesn't always have the accuracy I need. Most of what I'm doing right now is basically technical drawings, but I'll likely be doing some other work involving more shading and other effects in the future. Since I know there are a massive amount of people on here that are pretty experienced with graphic art, I was hoping people might have some good suggestions as to what might work really well for this. I don't need anything terribly complex, but I'd like something with a decent-sized drawing area, so the small sized Wacom tablets won't cut it. I need more than 4". I'd also like a model that has a pen without a battery. Any suggestions? I'd appreciate any input. :)

=0 any reason why you'd prefer a batteryless pen? pen batteries only need to be replaced every six months or so (maybe three months if you're using it for work every day, i'd say), and i find them more reliable tbh. not to mention most models don't include batteryless pens aaa.

wacom intuos is a great line, they come in most sizes you'd want aaa, and they're not too expensive either /o/.

It's just personal preference. It's just a pet peeve of mine having to rely on batteries all the time. They seem to go bad at the worst time when I don't have new ones around.

aaa, i getcha! the intuos pen is battery free, which i think will suit u then :o!!

xD i'm also always banging into problems w/ pen batteries-- usually with never having one around when i really need one (and pen batteries are usually the AAAA ones, so they're so hard to find gah, and they're also so expensive, bah) (and i've only ever found them sold two per pack) (b a h) T^T. i live in a v urban city tho with things running 24/7 so i've gone down many times at like 3 in the morning to hunt for those quadruple A batteries and maybe grab a meal to celebrate the accomplishment at the end lmao. i get that kinda convenience defs isn't there for everyone tho aaaa

I just moved from a very urban area (24/7 Walmarts included to a super tiny town in a way more rural area, so most things here are closed by six. :p

Thus far of the things I was looking at, the Wacom Intuos ones do look pretty goo. On site is recommended the Pro series. Any you like in particular?

I use a Huion 1060 Plus. It has a rechargeable pen and 10"x6.25" working area (which may or may not be big enough for you?).

I admit, I don't have much tablet experience. Hadn't used one in almost 10 years since getting this one. The last ones I used were a small Wacom (that was used, cause it belonged to my college) and some offbrand one I got off ebay (that cost way more than it should have cause it was trash lol). I really like the Huion, though. Have had it over a year and haven't had any issues. It can also be switched from left-handed or right-handed, which I like. Also, ngl, I got it off Wish for less than retail. Which was extra nice lol.

I'm not sure what my work is giving me as a price range yet, honestly. I have to say, most of what I own in general is second-hand, so I don't mind getting things used for cheaper as long as they work. I think they probably want to get something new though, which, depending on the site they want to go through and the price range, will give me a better guide perhaps.

Yeah, second-hand is great as long as it works. (what I used in college was very much used, even the teacher warned they might not work great lol)

What you can get will definitely depend on the price range your company gives and if they require you to through a certain site. Hopefully they'll let you order from wherever (Amazon usually has good prices on tablets), but they might have a contract or something with a certain place. Best of luck choosing one when you do know those details, though! I researched a lot before deciding on the Huion (price was definitely a factor, but it had good reviews too).

Yeah I'm super new there, so I'm not sure if there's anywhere they prefer to order from. It's not in the US, so that likely influences things too.
