What are your favorite JRPGS?
For classic stuff I like Chrono Trigger and FFIV.
My all time favorite game is The World Ends With You.
And I'm currently playing Octopath Traveler.
I love the Breath of Fire series, the earlier Final Fantasies, Chrono Trigger, Suikoden, Wild ARMs, Earthbound/Mother, Seiken Densetsu (Mana), and some others! Right now I'm playing Stella Glow on 3DS and it's super tropey but fun =)
I absolutely loved Stella Glow. Shame the company went bankrupt and will never put anything else out.
The Atelier Iris series will always top out for me, but the Mana Khemia series and Atelier Iris games will hold a special place in my heart too. Dark Cloud is another great set, and Jade Cocoon. Nothing like old PS/PS2 era games XD
PERSONA 5!!i wanna go back and play 3 and 4 too asdfghjkl i love p5 so much q v q
also skies of arcadia omg!! it's so good and i love it a lot * v *
Chrono Trigger, FF9, Octopath Traveler is one of my more recent ones.
I absolutely love TWEWY and I'm not sure if Nier: Automata should be on this list.
Also loved P5.
I'm a huge Tales of series nerd, my girlfriend and I collect all the games including imported Japan-only titles! We've played Symphonia 1/2, Abyss, Xillia 1/2, Zestiria, Berseria, Graces, and we're currently working on Phantasia and Vesperia. Graces has my favorite battle system but Berseria definitely won my heart with its story.
I'm ALSO in love with the Persona series, with 5 having my favorite cast/gameplay. 3's story is far superior to the other games though, if you ask me! I've played 4 and loved it too, just not as much as the others.
I own Eternal Sonata and Valkyria Chronicles but I'm too busy playing Tales of/Persona to start them. |D

Never played the PS2 games, but I do love me some Atelier. Played them on Vita, Steam, and PS4.
I love how the focus is more on making items than grinding for levels. That feeling of going from "struggling to defeat random enemies" to "smashing everything to pieces" when you replace your weak items with stronger ones is amazingly satisfying.
I'm currently playing through the newest game, Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists. Sadly the item crafting is a lot less interesting, though it makes up for it with complex city management.
IMO, the best I've played so far is Atelier Escha and Logy.

I've seen some of those floating around Steam but I haven't actually played any outside of the Atelier Iris and mana Khemia games for PS2. I like....wasn't even aware they'd made more beyond that recently, but I'm glad they did if they kept to that spirit of making the items that lets you smash the ever loving heck out of things :)
Golden sun is my absolute favorite, but I also like TWEWY, Dark cloud, and currently playing octopath,

Tales of Symphonia is one of my all-time favourites. It was the first definitely-a-JRPG game I ever owned (I got it for my 13th birthday on GCN), and it took me ages to beat, but I loved every painful minute of it.
There's a lot of good, newer ones, but it gets odd for me as I look at newer ones. I like the art of Persona 3/4/5, but I'd kill for a Switch port of any of them. Bravely Default has great mechanics, but that difficulty spike 3/4 through the game..... Oof.
The big question: Does Pokemon count as a JRPG?
All time faves are Shin Megami Tensei IV and Apocalypse! I will freak when SMT V comes out on the switch, I can't wait to see all the demons!!! I also loved FE Awakening! Persona 5 was also good, I'm on NG+ but haven't defeated my second cycle.. I want to replay FE Awakening but its so expensive to get the cartridge for AUS/NZ 3DSes.. I regret not buying it when it was still readily available here. :c
I would call Pokemon a JRPG and yes Bravely default! I can't beat the first one, its been years haha and I stopped playing Bravely Second a few months in after buying it but it's fun! Did you see the trailer for the new one that is coming out in Japan? I'm all for traditional Japanese themes which is why I enjoyed FE Fates.
: I haven't seen anything on a new one coming out in Japan! I guess I'll have to import it or wait for it to be announced over here... If that ever happens.
Oh man, i have an imported 3DS LL and back then I would rely on Google translate, my limited memorisation of kana/kanji and my knowledge of the mechanics for FE Fates and SMT IV: Final. Nevertheless, If the third Bravely Default does release in Japan, I think I would get it too ^^; I just hope I do not drop it in less than 7 months.
The Golden Sun series is pretty high on my list of best games. Though I was disappointed by the third installment on the DS. IMO, they would have been better off with an entirely new cast of characters instead of going with the children of the old cast.
I loved FF 7, 9, 10 and 12. Still enjoying the newer FFs, but somehow they're not quite the same as the old ones. I recently played the FFs below 7. I have to say that FF6 is my favourite of those.
I absolutely loved Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Didn't play any of the older Star Ocean games though. Did play the new one, but was a bit disappointed in that one.
I always hear people saying that Tales of Graces is one of the worst games in the Tales series, but it's the only one I played and I had tons of fun with it. I've got Tales of Vesperia for ps4 and Tales of Symphonia for ps3 laying around though. But my ps3 is busted :/
I'm ashamed to admit I never played any of the Shin Megami Tensei or Persona games. I did notice that people who usually hate JRPGs are praising Persona 5. I've asked a friend whether I could borrow their copy xD
I'm not sure about Nier and Ni No Kuni. They were both fun to play, but wouldn't make it to my top 10 I guess. I really liked the story of Nier, but didn't like that you had to play through the game so many times. Got boring at some point. So I'm doubting whether I should pick up Automata. Ni No Kuni looked great, but it was a bit too childish for me. The hand holding in boss fights was horrible. Even in the final boss fights it tells you which techniques to use :/ Reviews of Revenant Kingdom look really good though, so I bought it. That'll be the next game I'll play once I finish up what I'm currently playing.
Oh my gosh, pokemon. I spent so many hours playing that :O
Still halfway in a playthrough of Chrono Trigger too. I love the characters and the music, but somehow I lack the motivation to keep going, so I have some long breaks in between playing sessions. Usually I play when I'm at grandmas house, since she doesn't have any internet and I'm not about to carry my ps4 there.
