Im not sure if this is where I would post this or not. I am sorry if in the wrong forum area.

I bought a design from an artist over a year ago. And they are no longer active on subeta. The following is part of what they posted on their profile page:

Quote
Account is on Hiatus.Art files have been deleted so please no requests for recolors,re-leases,etc...If you have any old files/images of my art feel free to recolor with no need to pay me or send me copies of it.

I would really love to get recolors of the item that I have (Its a background). I have the file that was sent to me to submit onto subeta but nothing else. Would recolors even be possible??? I have a PNG, a GIF and a JPG file in the zip folder they initially sent to me. I am not sure what program they used to do their art with.

Will pay in USD for the recolors/work. And you would get the artists copy of the item.

I moved this to commissions.

If you have the files, my understanding is that you can maybe find an artist to do recolors for you, if you have all of the correct files.

Oops sorry I thought I had been in the commissions area when I posted and possibl wrong choosing there. But I had hoped around debating for a bit so I must have jumped somewhere else before I posted. Thank you for moving :)

Thank you for your input. I am clueless as to what artists need for this. Sadly I think all I got was the submission files and not the ones they use in their programs to draw/color etc. So I am not sure this will even be able to be done.

hmm...yeah you would need the .png files and .gif files that they make the image from. I know I worked with an artist that gave me a full zip file with all the layering. Did you get something like that by chance?

I have the Zip file they sent me still yes. I am not getting my hopes up that this would be doable. Im kinda sad that the artist didn't announce fully that they were doing this before it happened.

maybe you need to just get an artist to look at it, and see if they are even able to do the recolors. And then go from there and see if you can find one willing to do recolors for you.

Yea. I am hoping one would like to take a look and see. I know for them it never fun to work on anothers work tho. Which reminded me I needed to put that I would pay them obviously. LOL So added that in :)

I can offer some feedback / advice but I can't offer my services I'm afraid;

If all you have are the size / file types like you submit (a 125x250 png for the wearable, and a 64x64 gif of the item) it is possible to recolor those items, but it's going to probably be difficult and it may not come out exactly the way you want it to. Hue shifting / filters might work to some extent, but it would be similar to what you see with edited pet overlays.

If you have the working size images (bigger than mentioned before) or files like PSDs it is entirely possible to get it recolored more exactly to what you want.

My recommendation is to post in the OP exactly what you have, and potentially what you're looking for, so that someone with experience in this type of editing may be able to properly help you. Right now without exact information, it could be a guessing game to anyone.

I'm terrible sorry this has happened to you, I know it's probably very stressful.

Thank you for your advice. I will add that info the the first post too.

Yea its kinda disappointing that they didn't offer purchases of files to people and just deleted them according to their profile :(

I'm not sure what happened or why they were deleted, so I can't really say anything other than I'm just really sorry and that I think it's reasonable to feel the way you're feeling. I do really hope you can find someone that can help and if I see anything myself, I'll try to lead them here to you.

hey-- I'm happy to take a look at the files for you to see if there's anything that can be done. I really would have hoped you'd have a .psd file (that's what I personally use for layers), but if they used something other than photoshop, what you need might still be in there.

Regardless, I can at least take a look and try to let you know what you've got.

Let me know! :)

I actually had the same problem with that issue but was able to take the on site files and recolor them.
