The giftboxes you can send items in from the Gift Center are rather nice, and I feel like they'd be good for usage in things like Luminaire/Christmas-themed pet TCs and such. Maybe the gift center could be altered so that you receive the Giftbox as an inventory item once you've opened the gift itself in the Gift Center, like the leftover box.

The main downside I can think of for this idea off the top of my head is what ELSE to do with the giftboxes, since nonfunctional items aren't always much fun to hold onto and often end up not having any value, but I haven't really been able to think of an immediate potential use for them yet..

That aside, the boxes themselves should still be usable outside the Gift Center functionality, especially since they're already in the Item database.

I'm not really sure how you could even implement this.

the Gift Center used to not sell Gift Boxes, you had to buy them separately from the shop they were in or from other users before you could even get the GC to work. Everyone thought that this was a fucking pain in the neck, so when the GC got revamped, this was eliminated. Anyways even then folks thought that the completed boxes were pretty and wanted them for themselves, TCs. This was not remotely possible using the code that was available at the time.

You can still redeem the old boxes/wrapping papers for 10KsP. There are still leftover gift boxes and gift wrappings from the previous system on site if you happen to want one. They don't look like the sent-gift image though.

While I don't think we should get the wrapped gift box as an item from gifting (that would generate too much junk), I do agree that the boxes would make great items.

They're very pretty items, turn them into actual items, the art is already there, that we can buy. They could be tossed into Home Appliances, Thimble & Co., Carnival Prize Tent, Recycling shop, The Delphi Art Gift Shop, or Millionaire Center.

Or they could be turned into Genetech items - some old wrapping paper, scissors and tape or something.

? I don't know how badly this would mess with the economy, but I wanted to get the idea out anyway.

I think the Hustler could sell the giftboxes? You'd have the option to "open" them and get a few low-rarity restockables (b/c the hustler isn't that much of an ass... except when he runs off with your money).

Alternatively, add them to the trash can, also with the option to open them and get low-rarity restockables. There's gotta be some reason why they're in the trash, after all. :P

@ Lypsyl I honestly thought the trash can was discontinued until I went looking for it for this suggestion! But it's still there on Atebus.

I think the last things added to it were bitten fruits and the stained shirt you can get, so it definitely needs some fresh things to remind people that this feature exists.

There are actually some Genetech items that are made with some of the wrapping paper items which are now retired and unobtainable except in usershops, and may one day sell out entirely. There could be some way to bring those back, or at least the ones that can be used. But that's not anything to do with the wrapped gifts themselves.

I LOVE the idea of having them be Genetech items with the wrapping paper+scissors+tape, BUT I think this would inflate the price of wrapping paper and wipe out a retired item. Unless, of course, they aadded the wrapping papers and boxes back to Home Appliances.

The Trash Can idea is really good because it would add more use to an otherwise fairly useless part of the site.

All in all, I would really enjoy collecting all the giftboxes. They're so pretty!
