Organizing the holiday shops by year was initially a very easy, and even helpful way of organizing the holiday shops. I think as the years roll on, it makes it probably even more confusing though.
When going to a shop i'm usually looking for a specific item, and it is generally hard to remember what year that item was from.
I would suggest the tabs be changed to: This Year Last Year Everything else Books Foods Plushies Beabbags Toys Wearables
I'm not opposed to listing out every single year, I just suspect if you lay out the tabs like this would mean fewer people would need a tab for 2016, maybe i'm wrong though.
You could also potentially make the collection items direct to collection similar to how the antique shops work (without the discount.)

Oh, this is an interesting idea! I can't remember the years worth a damn, but I can bet you dollars to donuts that the wearable tab in the steamworks menagerie would make your PC have a crisis. :P
What would we do with multi-use items though? A lot of stuff in Louis L'amour's shop is food + wearable. Would the items be in both the wearable and the food tabs? Or would there be a separate tab for multi-use items and you can go about figuring what these things do on your own?
[edit]Brain is a squirrel tonight but I wouldn't mind filtering options in the holiday shops. So if you're only hunting for books, you pick the book filter, go through the year tabs and buy up all the books. Kind of like the item use dropdown we have in user shops, or the item use search we now have in the item directory.
Whilst I like the idea, it seems like a relatively low priority job that takes quite a while to do for the admins.
There is one tab I can think of that would definitely be super usefull AND quick to make: a currency tab for the libertine lounge. This way you don't have to go in search of those steamwork tokens and token bags (I mean the single coin is halfway down the 2010 tab and the bags are at the bottom of the 2011 tab, how will a newbie ever find them). A seperate page for exchanging lounge for steamworks and the other way around would probably be better, but creating a tab with 4 items is probably easier. You could even do both So they are easy to find if anyone wants to gift them.
I think they should stay paginated, but also have a search feature.
Because a user wouldn't even know that item x was IN that particular shop unless they've already visited SubetaLodge whose Item Notes already tell the user in detail, or if they were visiting the shop page by page anyways, or if the shop search message "you can also find it in x" is correct.
Removing the pagination for shops that are almost exclusively one kind of item will not only zark with pretty much anyone's browser, it'll bleeping censored crash the site.
Yeah, its pretty impossible to find a specific item from a previous year in any holiday shop. Not sure item use tabs are the answer though. For example, nearly everything in the Libertine lounge is food.
The search result for quest shop items read: This item can be found in these locations: Quest Shop (Quentin)
Maybe a similar thing can be done for holiday shops? This item can be found in these locations: holiday shop (year)

I'd like to figure out how to do that, actually! Mostly because if we did it by type some shops would be a nightmare (all food in libertine lounge or just clothes in general each holiday lol).
I'll play around with that this week. :)
Great idea! I think it would be very helpful if SS showed which year-tab items were under
