So I'm sorta playing around with an idea of doing a recolor of my & doing a Miyazaki Totoro tribute into a hoodie similar to this:
but basically no ears or face, just the two colors and the tummy markings. My only fear is, there's not alot there to change for a tribute item -- Especially since Totoro himself looks like this:
I normally avoid tributes for this very reason, but I guess I want to see if eliminating every feature except the colors and tummy markings would be enough for it to be approved?
is the only totoro CW that springs to mind. The little arrows are more understated on this version with the colours changed and the overall look of the creature being just different enough. The best thing to do is to make a ticket (if you can about CWs, I'm new to this side of the site), but I'd say if you tweak the colour enough and leave out the face I can't see why that would be too close to the original design.
PS I love the design of the original hoodies so much I would snap this up so quickly!
Yeah, I know there has to be 4 differences from the "original" for a tribute item to be accepted. But since its a hoodie, and I'd literally only be taking two things from the original character... there's not much there to change. I'm not sure if I can make a ticket about it, that's kinda why I was posting here to see if anyone else knew if it would or wouldn't be enough.
And thank you! One of my friends says she loves the idea so she'd get a copy too if I was able to do it.
EDIT: I submitted a ticket, and it basically was no help. They said, "I'm afraid that we cannot give pre-approval via ticket like this. In order to have your CW reviewed for enough changes, it will need to be submitted and receive feedback there. However, you will want to keep in mind that Topic: The Official Custom Wearable FAQ! mentions that you need to have four changes from the original item if you're submitting a tribute." I really just want to find out before-hand so I don't waste a ton of money on this since I'd have to buy the files, and pay another artist to do this one.
