Hi guys!
I joined Subeta about 3 ½ years ago, but since I have been on hiatus for a while until recently, I figured I might as well post here as I never really took the time to introduce myself or chat on the forums at all before! My name is Cath, I'm a 23 years old French Canadian and I'm currently a university student doing a major in linguistics and a minor in japanese. I love dogs, plushies, playing videogames, reading, drawing and baking desserts!
I'm really glad to see that Subeta is still as lively as I remember it to be. Hopefully this introduction will be a good start for me to get used to the forums as well as to get to know more people! ^-^
Welcome back!
what sort of video games do you like to play :)?
Hello! I am new to the site, and attempting to get the hang of the forums as well.
What kind of books do you like to read?
My favorite genre to play would be (J)RPGs, but I honestly like so many different genres, it would take a while to list them all! haha I'm currently playing Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu on the Switch right now, but I really want to pick up Persona 5 and Xenoblade Torna again as soon as possible! I also love playing visual novels and otome games in general, which I mostly play on my ps vita! I honestly feel like I could go on forever when talking about videogames, but let's say that I'm mostly using my Nintendo Switch, ps vita and PS4 right now and that I enjoy playing a bunch of different games! ^-^ Do you like to play videogames also?
Ohh welcome to the site as well! Thrillers and/or books that have historical settings are usually the ones I enjoy the most, but I honestly love every genre when it's well written! I'm currently reading Bird Box by Josh Malerman which currently has a Netflix movie adaptation. I was interested in watching the movie, but I thought I might as well read the book first! Other than that, I also enjoy reading graphic novels and mangas a lot!
Thanks! I do love historical fiction and thrillers as well. My main book of choice is fantasy and science fiction, but I will read just about anything once. How is Bird Box? I am currently reading The Game Trilogy, on the last book.
I'm about halfway through the book and I'm really enjoying it so far! The pace is great and it's written in a way that you always want to know what happens next! The author also did a great job not letting the reader expect what's going to happen next so I'm having a great time going through it!
I'm not too familiar with the science fiction genre, but I actually love fantasy when it comes down to graphic novels and mangas, so I'm actually unsure why I have never really tried reading fantasy books before! How is The Game Trilogy? It's the first time I hear about it so I'm pretty curious!
Oh cool! I will have to look for it the next time I am at Half Price Books. It is by Anders de la Motte. It focuses on a brother and sister pair. The brother is a bum, the sister a cop. The brother finds a phone on the subway asking him if he wants to play a game. He says yes, and it starts off as harmless pranks that earn him points and cash. Then it escalates, and drags the sister into it all. It is fast paced, and the I can't wait to see how the series finishes. I picked them up on a whim when I was at Half Price, and I am glad I did.
That actually sounds pretty good and thrilling! I'll definitely have to check it out!
Do you have a favorite author or book series?
I recently got back into reading books after years of not giving myself enough free time to do so, so I don't really have a favorite author or series at the moment! Most of the books I enjoyed reading years ago were mostly romance novels I believe, probably because I was still in high school at the time! haha (Now that I think about it, I did start reading a fantasy book series back then which was The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. I never finished it though, but I remember liking it at the time!) I really want to go to my local bookstore soon and get myself some new books to read so I can discover new titles and authors!
Do you have any favorite author or book series you'd recommend beside The Game Trilogy? What about your favorite books?
I totally understand that. I am a graduate student, so I have also become a huge fan of audio books.
Favorite books? Definitely the Harry Potter trilogy. Author wise, Tamora Pierce and Mercedes Lackey are my go to fantasy authors.
I finished Children of Blood and Bone and would heavily recommend it. There is also a series by Mira Grant about a zombie apocalypse, the Parasitology trilogy. That is most of what I have finished at the moment.

I adore video games haha. Lately I have been on a sandbox/ builder type kick. Been playing Stardew Valley, Terraria, Starbound, and Rune Factory. I primarily play games on my PC or my DS/ 3DS. Been debating on getting a switch though lol.
do you have a favorite overall game? Or one that you could replay over and over?
