Hi, welcome to the site! I'm new here too. It's pretty confusing to try to take everything in at once, so I suggest focusing on getting some SP first! That's my advice. I hope it was helpful. This site can be pretty overwhelming at first but you can pretty easily get into the rhythm of things and making SP isn't hard.

PS, you can earn wizard points by completing wizard quests, which I suggest you do once you earn some SP! You can use the wizard points to zap your pets, which is an easy way to get colors for your pets! Although it can sometimes zap your items, so make sure to put items you don't want destroyed in your vault or lock them.

Also, check Adopt R Us. There are typically some pretty decent pets in there if you ever want any! ASFIAK, the later the time of day (EST), the more likely you are to see pets in there.
