I absolutely love item trades, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. If there was a way, when viewing someone's wishlist, to pull up items you currently own that are in that user's wishlist, item trades, bartering, and especially luminaire gifting would be a snap! (Is it tacky to regift in this case? heh...) It's definitely hard to keep track of all the neglected knick knacks strewn about my account; maybe I already have a highly priced item that I know a user would love, just rotting away, hidden in one of my shops somewhere?

I sort of feel like something like that might be server intensive, though. I honestly would be satisfied with a text only list of resulting matches.

What do you think?

this did actually exist for a short while. But they got rid of it because it was too server intensive. As far as I know they aren't working on a replacement because no one can come up with some way to do it that isn't a massive drain.

You know, I'm so glad you said that because I've been having some intense deja vu over the idea, but I wasn't able to find any evidence that it used to exist!

Some of my friends and I have been talking about WL upgrades a lot.

One we thought would be great would be to be able to make it known to other users when we have purchased something from the WL with maybe the ability to mark a box or something.

I know I get doubles or triples of certain items on my WL around holidays and I was thinking this would be a way to help people gift without the problem of getting multiples of the same item.

It would be ideal if the person being gifted does not have the ability to see if and item has been purchased or not. That way it is even more of a surprise! ^^

Does that sounds about right for what you all are thinking too?

How about not moving all the items in a deleted list to the unsorted list? I've been caught by that multiple times and it's frustrating, even more so before when they were slow and site breaking. If I deleted the list that means I wanted it gone in it's entirety. Not that I wanted to now go and clean my unsorted list. Which can be easy if it's already empty or incredibly difficult if it's full of other items I haven't sorted yet. Or give us the option at least or a warning.

This will move all the items to your unsorted list. Continue?

Or something like that.

Yes! Although it's a double edged sword, because you don't want the person to buy it for themself, either. I have already purchased Lumi presents for people who then bought copies for themselves without knowing that I had already put one under their tree. xD So it might be good for the person who owns the WL to see it, but not know who purchased it? It stinks that it would kind of ruin the surprise, though.

I was also thinking that it might be best if the WL checklist was only available to the user's friends, so that it would be less likely for someone to troll them and check off things they didn't actually purchase. Not that people would do that, but I think it might be a good precaution. ;)

Yes, I agree with your point. I know I already purchased a few things for people and then I saw them wearing them right before Lumi! XD

Yes, perhaps that would be a good idea to somehow make it a two way ability to view, It would be best if there was an option to choose to see it or not, if you are the one owning the WL. You now? What if I don't want to see what people might have gotten me? You know?

Also good point for the trolling. Friends only would be a nice precaution/option.

Unfortunately, the idea from the original post has been denied. Here is the quote relating to that.

Quote

NOT HAPPENING</p>
<ol>
<li>Bring back the &quot;You Have This Item&quot; when browsing a wishlist<details>
<summary>Explanation</summary>
[quote=Bug]Sorry, but this feature is gone for good. We have no plans to bring it back. We are not considering it either.</li>
</ol>
<p>I know it was a very useful feature and would be really great to have, but it isn&;t feasible. This is not up for debate, sorry. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but people seem hopeful for it so I think it&;s better to just communicate it clearly that it&;s not going to happen. :(</p>
<p>[spoiler=Reasoning and FAQ]The decision is made, but I thought some might appreciate an explanation so I took the time to type this up.</p>
<p>In an ideal world, we would have this feature, but in reality the strain it puts on the servers is impractical. For example, if your friend has 500 items on their wishlist, just visiting their wishlist would cause an account search to be done 500 times! That would take a very long time, and would put a lot of strain on our servers.</p>
<p>Why is it that wishlist search (like in shops and galleries) can still work then?
A wishlist search only checks if the item is on your wishlist. Even if your wishlist is large, our servers only need to search for the item in one place. But an account search has to check multiple places: your inventory, your vault (which can have thousands of different items), your pet treasures, your shops and galleries.... It isn&;t just a single database search, but many searches need to be done to search the whole account. So even account-searching for a single item is expensive (in terms of computing time/power). Account-searching for hundreds of items at a time is just too much.</p>
<p>Can&;t Subeta bring the feature back now that we have better servers?
Nope. The servers have improved and a lot of lag has been eliminated. But the problem with the &quot;you have this item&quot; feature wasn&;t that we had broken servers, it&;s that the feature is inherently inefficient. Think about it this way: a wishlist page that account-searches 500 items should be 500 times laggier than the account-search feature itself (which only searches one item). No matter how efficient we make this, it won&;t change the fact that it&;s still doing a very large amount of work, more than we can dedicate to this page. We do not have unlimited computing resources, so we have to pick and choose which features to have and this one just requires too much of those resources to be feasible.

</details>

With that said since it has been officially denied I will be locking this board up. However, we don't want to stop the brainstorming, but we do already have a thread for assorted Wishlist suggestions. You can find it here: Wishlist suggestions Please feel free to use that, or create your own thread on your specific suggestion. Thank you!
