This hasn't happened to me personally, though I am a bit paranoid about it. However, in the last week I have twice seen someone say that they accidentally turned their active pet into an Aenoid from watering the seed, and those pets happened to be in expensive colours.

As far as I know, this feature has been on the site for years, and I didn't even know about it until recently (Which is why I became paranoid about it even though I've never gotten the seed). A lot of users, new and old, won't know about this until it's too late, and that pet that they spent lots of SP on is suddenly gone.

That's why I thought that when the Aenoid Seed is ready, there should be a warning. Maybe not one of those "Are you sure" things because people have complained about there being too many of those, but on the button itself. It should say something like "WARNING: This will change your active pet into an Aenoid" so that people can change their active pet to one that they don't mind being changed. I just think that with this being around for years and so many users who don't know how it works, it would be helpful.

I agree . I found this in the FAQ -

Quote
Aeanoid, which can be obtained from growing an Aeanoid Seed in the Subeta Public Gardens. If you plant this seed and water it for 3 days in a row, the mature aeanoid plant will "eat" your active pet and take it over.

The problem with the FAQ is that it's one long wall of text. It would be much easier for people to find information without using a browser 'find' if each section had it's own page.

The second problem is that many people wouldn't think to look in the FAQ for instructions because other ways of changing pet species and colours allow us to choose which pet we want from a dropdown menu.

I think the easiest way round this is putting the warning on the button. The other option, of course, is providing a dropdown menu so people can choose which pet they want changed.

Aeanoids used to be quite rare and expensive and hard to get, so everyone knew not only how to get one but the price of the Seed was enormous. Maybe Schematics, Nostalgic Toys, and Seeds for Aeanoids need to be made more rare and tons more expensive to get so that they seem like they are the (unconventional) potions that they are?

Does anyone know if any of the Peka Glade potions have warnings on them?

Getting Steamwork, Glade and Harvest pets is expensive enough already.

Aeanoid seeds would have been horrendously expensive when they first came out but that was in 2006 //subeta.net/news.php?archive_view=200607 Making them horrendously expensive again wouldn't alter the fact that it's difficult to find the instructions for making an Aeanoid.

I bought a Glade Potion from a user shop to turn my Aeanoid that colour. It's just the same as any other potion/elixir in that you can choose which pet you want to use it on.

The popularity of aeanoids has waned because they have no artist afaik. So they're missing out on many colours and they sadly look super outdated compared to the rest of the pets onsite.

That aside, I'd rather have the option to pick which pet gets "devoured". I don't change my active pet that often, so if I wanted to get an aeanoid, I'd prefer to select a pet to send to pick the mysterious, very hungry looking plant that grew from the aeanoid seed. ;) Naturally with a warning that the plant looks very strange and might change your pet.

If you mean the random bottles you can fill in the Peka Glade, the most warning they have is a popup with "Are you sure that you want to use this item on PETNAME?". Tested it out on one of my pets.

The seed doesn't need to be made more rare. The aeanoids need a revamp and more TLC from the artists.

I think was on about normal bottles of Glade water that turn your pet into that camel experiment. I don't know if this has always been there, but most bottles of water mention in the description that it will change your pet into that experiment. I don't think they all do, though, and they should all do. I think I made that mistake in my early days because it didn't say in the description, and so I thought it would change my pet's stats instead. I don't remember if I got an "Are you sure?" thing or not.

A potion vs a seed vs the camel water debate is kinda absurd, tbph. I expect the change with a potion. Not with the water or a seed.

I did the camel thing in the bygone era of Subeta so yes, some kind of a note would be appreciated. I know it now but that's beyond the point.

The random Peka Glade bottles should have clear information as well. I couldn't find anything in the FAQ and had to hunt through SubetaLodge for the details. The filled bottle descriptions are still things like "Full of fresh, sparkling water, that is." and "I wonder what it tastes like.." and "Huh. Look at that." (I bought a Filled Beer Bottle to double check and there was nothing about using it turning a pet into a Common Experiment .)

Quote
Notes: Obtained from filling an Empty Beer Bottle at Peka Glade
Choosing the FEED option counts toward the Gourmand Achievement.
Selecting the USE option will turn your pet into Common Experiment .

The Zapper page has a warning at the top saying it can zap unlocked items in an inventory etc so it makes sense to have other warnings on the site where necessary.

I'm that numpty that accidentally made their pet an aeanoid. A warning would definitely be helpful, but I do also appreciate that I should have looked into what picking it did

It's not that easy to find and the seed's description isn't helpful "Such a rare seed.. I wonder what could grow from this..."

Maybe information about the Miracle Potions, how to get an Aeanoid, the ordinary filled bottles and the Experimental Dew should be added to the Pets section of the Subetapedia. The Experimental Dew description isn't helpful either "Using this on your pet...may be a little dangerous. What the heck, it's worth a shot!"

I'm all for it being in the description, like the bottle of water than turned everyone's pet into a camel.

Sounds like it is good to give a brief warning for those of us (like me) that may not read the FAQ.

4 of them have this description:

Quote
This flask is filled with sparkling spring water. Hopefully, the special properties of the water will hold out until you get home. Be careful using this flask, because it will change your pet in to a common Experiment !

The rest of them, like the beer bottle mentioned above, do not.

. I agree that there should be a warning BEFORE the active pet gets turned into an Aeanoid. Having someone’s active pet changed by accident could bring someone to tears or anger if that pet’s color or type was extremely expensive or a hard to get Zappered look. I don’t think it’s good for the game to make it a difficult to erase change without a clear warning first.

Thank you for adding the clarification on the bottles. I did not know that about them. :)

I prefer changing the Aeanoid creation to dual options like the experiments and Bhakoru: Select a pet or create a new one.

Food for thought: If your Aeanoid can swallow a pet whole, what's stopping it at one? xD

I think the only ways of changing a pet's species and/or colour where it's your active pet is using a Nostalgic Pet toy and Essence of Melody, or getting a Hydrus pet from Merana, and maybe getting a Galactic pet, though those ones will usually warn you so you can go and change your active pet. Actually, I think I recall being able to choose which pet to turn into a Hydrus pet. I don't know. But most of those things will warn you if it's going to affect your active pet. As far as I know, the Aenoid Seed does no such thing.

I think letting the person pick which pet gets changed is the fairest option for the aeanoid seed.

That said, with the water bottles?

Any time there's two sets of options where one is "feed" and the other is "use", it should really be kind of obvious that if you "use" the item it's going to do something to your pet, so maybe don't "use" any item on a pet without looking that item up on SubetaLodge to see what it does?
