Would really love to see something for Lunar New Year on Subeta this year :') (or well, next year I guess?)! Maybe it's celebrated by the people of Shengui Guo? New traditional food items, maybe something involving Ujin or Som or anyone else from the marketplace, that teahou-, a page in the subetapedia, etc. Any of that would be so cool :D
Lunar New Year (舊曆年) is the most important holiday of the year where I live, so seeing something for it would be awesome!
Especially with how Shengui Guo encompasses a lot of different RL East-Asian and South-Asian influences, there are a lot of different cultural traditions that can be drawn on? From:
It's the beginning of 2019 soon so aa, Happy New Year as well!
Subeta doesn't do RL holidays, and usually the lunar new year is around Survival. We did last year get a re-release of some lucky lanterns that were originally Holiday Shop items and now they are regularly available from Five Seven Five. But I don't remember if that was any particular date.
Maybe Som will get us some new items. The Tea House is kinda overdue by now and Staff has been promising that it'll be something extra. So maybe something like this will happen at it.
mhm! I rather meant a subeta version of the holiday, like how we have Christmas/Easter/Morostide and Lumi/Vesnali/Halloween respectively.
Also we /do/ have the new year as a holiday, no changed name or anything xD (though, well, I guess there's no other way to dress up the new year). I think it would be relatively simple to go 'oh hey, they celebrate the new year on a different date over in Shengui Guo'.
I mean, despite Shengui Guo having been developed a lot over the past few years, I think it could still use a lot more lore and worldbuilding and site things dedicated to it aa.
It would just be nice to have something tbh! A lot of Subeta events correspond to holidays that aren't really celebrated where I live- the Lunar New Year is more important than Christmas or the actual new year here (and has more cultural value than any of the other holidays combined lmao), so it'd be nice to see a version of it on Subeta.
I would love to see Subeta transform Lunar New Year as an holiday for Shengui Guo (as we don't do real holidays here) It could be anything and it doesn't have to be huge either but surely, it would be based around a real holiday like most of the rest. I would want to learn more with actual real food based items.
Here are a few ideas:
I like this idea.
I wouldn't mind seeing this. :) And to pull it away from the real life Lunar New Year holiday, it could be something like 'The Shengui Guo Welcoming Holiday' where it's about welcoming new luck and new fortune (etc...) into one's life, so it would maintain the spirit of a new year celebration without /being/ the actual RL holiday.
Support.

Yay! I love this. I've never seen and not familiar with where they come from, but how about something similar as a floating item or quest reward? And the Shengui Guo city scapes decked out in lanterns and lion costumes?
Maybe they should release new items in Five Seven Five and other shops when New Lunar Year arrives? I mean, the Lunar New Year of the Earth Pig - or Boar - will be taking place on 5th February, so... Why not releasing any items related to it then?
I really hope they eventually do that, too!
I'm not sure if they could really manage a big event since Survival is so close, and even if we didn't have that it would be a bit of a rush to plan an event so soon, but introducing a few new items, bringing back some old ones, and, as everyone demands, finally finishing the tea house, would all be good things. Maybe it could be February's monthly theme, with a Cash Shop collection and some Quest Shop items? If we don't get the tea house then, I hope we at least get it during Vesnali just so the staff can say something like "It's taken two years, but it's finally done" or something like that X)
