I think it would be really helpful to have a search feature as part of the forums pages, so that the same ideas, especially ones that have been rejected, don't keep coming up over and over. I would think that could get really annoying/frustrating for the system staff to have to keep addressing the same issues over and over, as well as being a waste of their limited and valuable time.

Agreed that a search feature for the forums is needed. However, they've had search features in the past which never worked properly. Or were so server intensive that they had to be taken down. It hasn't been suggested for a while because we've assumed they're working on it, but its a low priority.
Probably time for another reminder though.

Brainstorming is for staff posts only. Moving to the main suggestions forum.
There is also a forum search feature that is currently down.
The search feature needs to come back, I know its intensive but thats easily solved by not keeping every thread from the last 10+ Years if its inactive.

This idea gets Suggested a lot. I'm not opposed to it, but I don't understand why it should be so popular. I'm curious what's wrong with using an outside-subeta search engine on site:subeta.net? This is what I do, and it IME it works more quickly and accurately than any search feature that has been implemented here.
yes please bring back the search ;o;
it's not really more accurate to do an off-site search if you're looking for items. ex., when i came back from hiatus and learned what cws were, i decided i thought the someone was selling on the forums was so very pretty but too spendy for me. i regret that immensely, so when there was another one up for sale in r200 about a week ago, i wanted to offer on it but didn't remember how much the other one sold for -- i tried to do a google search with site:subeta.net "Azure Fawn Wisps" but it returns one result, someone's profile.
another example is -- i know i've seen it on forum posts before, because i used the search to see how much the thing was worth when it was still working! but a google search returns two pet profiles and nothing else.
Some internet sites have the option to use Google (or another search engine) to search the site. The search engine then shows results for the actual site without including results from other sites.
You can also do this manually by putting site:subeta.net after whatever it is you're searching for.
This is another case of using another site to do stuff on subeta which takes people away from subeta. This was a problem previously, where in order to do stuff you had to go to another site to do it and thus spend less time on subeta.
Yes, it is a work around, but they should put a search function here that is run by their site. Because it'd be more effective and far more helpful than maybe finding what I want on google.

The first option I mentioned would have the search box on Subeta itself so people wouldn't have to leave the site. It doesn't have to be Google because there are other search engines.
