this is the second time i've gotten an error while creating a name that's on an inactive account the account is inactive, the pet name free, but when i go to create it in the adoption center i get an error saying someone already owns the name and upon refreshing the page i'm able to create the pet

i had filed a ticket about it and was told i was double-clicking... which i know i definitely did not do in this case so! slam dunks here i guess

im on an update to date vers of chrome on win10, if that matters

Same trouble here on the last two pets I created (1st Dec and 8th Dec). I'm definitely not double clicking, but the pet isn't being created on the first click.

With the second pet (Peregrin Took), after I got the "someone already owns" error, I refreshed the pet profile at subeta.net/pets/Peregrin Took I know it was the right link, as I already had it open to see if the name was inactive and therefore available and it told me there was no pet with that name.... therefore it had correctly renamed that inactive account's pet, but the new pet hadn't been created.

Refreshing the error page (for both Peregrin Took today, and Melter on the 1st) gave me the correct page saying I had successfully created the pet.

I've had the same problem the past few times I've gone to create a pet with a name that's just cleared. Once with the latest version of Chrome on Windows 8.1 and once using IE11 (I know boo hiss it's a work computer and I can't use any other browser 8( ) on Windows 7. After a refresh it works. I'm worried about trying to create a more popular name with this glitch haha. D:

I created a pet from an inactive account today, and checked as I went (ok, I was bored :P)....

I had the same problem creating my pet Quelana on December 15th. I had previously checked to see that the name was available; it belonged to a pet on an inactive account. I then tried to create a pet with that name, but was told "Someone already owns that pet" when I clicked the final button. I assumed something had gone wrong on my end somehow, but couldn't think of what. (I know for certain I didn't refresh the page OR double-click the button)

A few days later I searched for the name again. The pet that was on the inactive account had been changed, and no one had created the pet Quelana, so I tried to create the pet again. This time I was able to create the pet with no problems.

For what it's worth I'm on a Windows laptop with the latest version of Firefox (64.0 as of now). I got lucky, but can you imagine someone finding a good name, trying to make a pet with that name, being told they can't - only they actually could have? And if someone else snaps up that name they wanted in the meantime? Like finch said, I can see this getting really ugly over a popular name.

This happened to me when I created Gigalith. The name belonged to an inactive account, so I went to claim it by creating a new pet, but I got that "Pet already belongs to someone" message. When I checked, there was no pet by that exact name and the old one had been given then underscore random numbers part of the name already, so I just tried again and was successful. I AM NOT A DOUBLE CLICKER so I know for a fact that that is NOT what happened to me. After reading this thread, I think it's pretty clear that this is not a user-side issue.

just adopted a pet from an inactive and it didn't give me the error so it seems to be fixed! c: thank you!
