I'm surprised there isn't a topic currently running about this, considering the internet is abuzz about it ever since it dropped this morning, but...
They're making a live-action Detective Pikachu movie?!
I'm simultaneously disturbed and intrigued. DISCUSS
I saw this earlier and I couldn't believe it was real! I love that Mr. Mime tells pikachu to "shove it" and then puts up a barrier which pikachu slams into upon attempting to tackle him in retaliation XD I can't believe they're actually making a dark, adult pokemon movie. It looks so weird and creepy--kinda like that Super Mario Bro's film from the 80's. This is going to be amazing though. Even if it's bad, it's automatically going to be in the "so bad it's good" territory.
I still wish Danny DeVito voiced Detective Pikachu, though. (Deadpool voicing him is an ok subtitute, but my heart will always be set on Detective Danny DePikachu)
I think it looks really cool. :) I loved the game itself, and this one seems set for people of all ages to go see. Will be a nice treat since I have't been as interested in movies lately besides the Miyazaki films, and the third how to train your dragon movie.
As for the pokemon some looked cool, cute, and weird. Wouldn't have it any other way. XD

I actually really liked it. I could've looked a whole lot worse, Also Ryan Reynolds as a pikachu detective? YES PLEASE. I really like the graphics.. Although I'm easy to impress i guess lol
Me the entire trailer: whaaat the fuuuuck
I'm confused but strangely excited.
As a Poke'fan from the very start, I'm super hyped and really excited about this shift in tone for the movies, but I think Bird Keeper Toby expresses it best in his trailer review; his level of geeking out over the trailer is just absolutely adorable! =^___^=
I'm a little disturbed but at the same time very curious to see the real life takes on Pokemon. I love the realistic art that's been floating around online for a while now.
But I am not digging the whole... add fuzz to otherwise flat-looking renders to make them look "realistic."

Sadly I don't see the appeal. :( I love almost all things Pokemon but I just don't like Detective Pikachu at all.
I could be wrong and it could be good but... just not a thing for me personally.
I don't see the appeal either. Yeah Pikachu is cute but I never liked the idea of realistic pokémon. It just seems...wrong you know? I'm probably going to watch it, my boyfriend is super hyped for it.
I want to see this although I hate pikachu (the mascot not the character shown here). And I decided to quit playing the games after sun/moon. However I did play through the Detective Pikachu game. Really not worth it. And while it was massively disappointing and underwhelming.... I am rather intrigued by the movie. The movie just has SO MUCH more appeal as a movie rather than a game tbh and I've always wanted a live action pokemon movie. Also even though I hate pikachu, something about the pikachu shown in the trailer, with the fluffy fur texture which makes it look like something you'd actually want to pick up and cuddle, has got me curious. So I'm going to see it. But also I like buddy-cop films. Only problem is they're going to want to be careful here. We just had a super successful buddy-cop film involving cute animals solving crime (Zootopia) so they have a lot of other expectations to fill as well.

It looked camp af. But like silly enough for me to enjoy so I'm strangely looking forward to it but they literally could not cast any other actor than Ryan Reynolds for Pikachu??? He's fine enough as an actor but I disliked Deadpool so much so it's an instant aversion. They should have taken someone with less of a distinguishable voice. /shrugs
I'm excited they are making a Pokemon movie that is separate from the TV show! The weirdest thing for me is seeing Pokemon in a different art style. I'm so used to the flat 2D renderings. I feel like this movie has the potential to be a big hit or a big flop. Though as a fan, I'm hoping everything comes together for this movie. =)
The thing that freaks me out the most is the fact that I'm not absolutely terrified by Mr. Mime?
Like, considering all the Realistic Pokemon people have made over the years, he should have been nightmare fuel, but instead he's like. The normal amount of Terrifying for a Mr. Mime.
Either way I think Pikachu may be Slightly Too Fluffy but otherwise I'm interested in these designs! I'm excited to see how the movie does. o:
