Hello all,
Subeta is a very fun game, but for those of you who like to write and would like to write collaboratively with others and get to know some new people, I'd recommend you give Storium a look.
The game combines play-by-post with the fun of a card game. In the game you create a character in various games that can be set in a number of generes and write what happens by saying what your character does.
You get different kinds of cards. Strength cards, weakness cards, and subplots, and also the narrator (a user that acts as a sort of GM and game manager) can also make asset and goal cards available. and for good and balanced storytelling, they make it so you have to play your weaknesses and strengths before you get to refill your hand with both of them.
but the narrator presents challenges in the story that the players as a group must deal with. If more Say for example you were playing a fantasy game and you were fighting a dragon.as a challenge. The players could play their cards and explain how using those cards help them fight the dragon. Suppose you are a warrior in that challenge and you have a strength called "weapon master" You then play that card and in your move you describe how your character's mastery of weapons makes it easier for you to defeat the dragon. Or if you want to play a cardthat is a weakness such as "dim-witted" you then have to write how your character's stupidity makes things worse.
The outcomes of a challenge can go either strong or weak. If the players play as a group more strong than weak cards, they get the strong outcome, which is usually better. If they get the weak outcome, they often still overcome the challenge and the story continues, but with complications that will be unpleasant for the heroes.
The game currently has free plans and a paid plan. Free plans let you use any of the 9 premade worlds from beta and gamma periods and you can play in up to 3 games. With the paid plan which costs about $3 a month you get an additional 51 premade worlds to choose from and you also have no game limit.
The game has some easy tutorials, a quick youtube video, and if you want help from the community 1. it is super-friendly, and 2. there is the storiumarc podcast is run by a few members of the community and it has a ton of helpful info.
I am a member of the podcast and am called Zachary on it. On the site I am known as Rattannah.
Hope some of you check it out and like it.
