I just completed the plot a few hours ago, and I'm going to try and keep any spoilers for the ending boxed away, which unfortunately means that pretty much this whole opening post is going to be under a spoiler. And I have no control over what those who reply do, so they may post untagged spoilers--read at your own risk if you don't want the plot ending spoiled!
But the non-spoilery part I can say is that I would love to be able to do quests for an NPC from this year's plot.
description of idea
I loved the Dungarde and especially loved how accepting it was of its eventual fate. I would hate to see it sort of get pushed under the rug after Morostide ends, especially since it became so invested in the player and the player in it. I don't know if staff have any plans for it, but if not, I would be thrilled to be able to do quests for it. It's got a while to wait before it can be freed from its binding, so why make it wait all alone and bored?
ideas for quests
The quests could be basic fetch quests, or could involve you doing certain on-site actions and then "reporting back" to the 'garde afterwards. After you brought it the magazines, the Dungarde did seem to be rather interested in the world outside the Skelly crypt, so I could see it wanting to see/learn more about it through you.
Examples for fetch quests: "This one has seen [suchandsuch item] mentioned in one of its magazines and would like to examine it closely. Please bring this one a [suchandsuch item]."
"This one has been reading about cooking, and would like cooking supplies" (suggested by )
Examples for on-site action quests: "This one read an article about [game] strategy and wishes to know more about it. Please undertake a game of [game] and tell this one how you achieved a score of [score] or higher."
"When that one and the young master Skelly visited this one last, they discussed [quest-giving NPC], but were unable to give much detail about [NPC]'s trials. This one would be most grateful if you completed one of [NPC]'s trials and returned to tell it the tale."
I just really loved this plot, and would be thrilled to see this element of it returned to. That said, since being able to interact meaningfully with this NPC would kinda require knowledge of the events of the plot, I could see this being a bit strange for users who join after Morostide.
Anyway. Thoughts? Ideas?
Oh I'd love this!!! I love Dungarde and I feel like it'd be nice to be able to keep interacting with it
I like it, but I don't think we need any more regular quest givers. I'd like to see it as an Oracle type quest, where he contacts you periodically to do quests.

I agree with the above poster. I love the Dungarde and would really like to see more of him, but we have a lot of regular quests already. Maybe as an occasional random event, he just pops up for a quick chat and a lil quest :)
Edit: OR!!! He could be a lil bonus quest for Quentin, like how the Wizard sometimes gives an extra quest or Carl falls asleep.
God, please. I miss him already. However I agree that we probably don't need more regular quests.
I kind of like the idea of it being a daily sort of thing though, just visiting him once a day and bringing him something he doesn't get lonely.
I'm not sure it would fully adhere with the whole

being willing to wait another lifetime to be free
You know what, I really like that idea. -snort- Maybe the 'garde reaches out to you telepathically in random event form. "This one has a request for you..."
I also really like this idea.
Yep, just what I was imagining. I too like 's once a day idea.

OH MY GOODNESS, yes please! I'm already super attached to the Dungarde, I want to see more of them. I think it would be lovely for them to become a regular part of the site in some way.

I think it would feel weird to be stomping around the forest and the crypt regularly, when that area is supposed to be so dark and dangerous. This is apparently the first time anyone's set foot there for ages, and from what we saw in this plot I can't imagine it becoming a major thoroughfare.
I also kind of feel like the dungarde is still a mysterious creature, and we don't fully know its intentions. Making it a regular quest giver almost goes against that in my mind.
Just for the sake of preserving the lore, I'd rather keep interaction with this character to a minimum outside of plots.

I think it would be interesting to have an occasional quest to tie back in until there's a continuation of the plot if they choose to do that, so I'd support this.
runs in to slap my support on this I do agree that it would be better as an occasional "summoning" type thing, like the Oracle or Tempest, or as a bonus quest from Quentin instead of a daily opportunity.
You already know my opinion on this. I do think that having him as an 'Oracle' type quest would work...
I agree with the 'Oracle-type' quest rather than a new daily, but otherwise yeah, I'd love to see more interaction with the Dungarde, it had such a fun personality.
Why not make visiting the Dungarde a Major Drills quest? Kissing the Survival Memorial and donating food to Charity does nothing for most of the year and feeding a worry to Oatmeal does nothing all year. Maybe the Drills quest could be giving something to it but it doesn't matter what.
PS: It would be a variation on deleting an item from our inventory but more fun.
YES PLEASE!!!!! I love the Dungarde so much. I would be absolutely freaking thrilled if the Dungarde became a quest NPC of some kind. I actually love all of the ideas in the OP. I'd prefer if it was a Daily quest option instead of an Oracle type one, but maybe limit it to a small number of quests per day? Even just one quest a day would be fine. Hell, I would even be happy if it was a seasonal quest NPC, but like, not just for Morostide. How fun would it be if we could share our holidays with it?
I've been thinking about this very thing since the plot ended, and I'm glad to see someone else had the same thought! Honestly I would love to see the Dungarde as either a once a day thing, or even as something that has no effect like Oatmeal. Just to be able to visit.
I'm sure some would agree, too. <3
