This is something that I was discussing with a friend and I have no idea how plausible it would be from a coding standpoint, but we've both noticed that there are no achievements for doing quests during a quest-a-thon. None. Nada. Zilch. There's lots of achievements for doing quests, but none specific to the quest-a-thon.

I understand that not everyone is interested in the prizes that the quest-a-thon provides, but maybe some tradeable items and forum title prizes could be sprinkled among the QaT achievement tiers? It might get more folks interested in doing a few more quests the next time we have one.

As long as the tiers are fairly reasonable (like, under ~300) I'd be in favour. I do the Quest-A-Thons anyway, but more prizes are always welcome ;)

Happy birthday! :D

I think the tiers and their respective numbers would depend on if it would be one achievement for all quest-a-thons, or if separate quest-a-thons would have separate achievements.

If it's one achievement for all quest-a-thons, then I'd be down for higher numbers with tastier prizes sprinkled in. If it's several for different quest-a-thons, then definitely keep the numbers reasonable but obtainable.

Thank you!

I'd kind of prefer to keep it low regardless because I hate having unfinished achievements laying around, lol.

The average non-GA user can do 90 quests a day total. GA users can do 135. Cutting off some quests that you simply have no choice but to quit because of unobtainable items and adding on the length of the quest-a-thon (est. 14 days if the last one is to go by), and that's... 80 x 14 = 1120 quests.

Round that down to 1000 quests done for the highest tier during a quest-a-thon if staff wants to have each quest-a-thon separate. Kick it up to 5k (or more) for a top tier for one achievement that'd apply to all quest-a-thons.

My math might be a bit off, but this is one achievement I'd like to be higher tier simply because it would motivate people to participate if it had prizes. You only need to do one quest to get the quest-a-thon rewards if we hit the goal. Achievements are more like personal goals, not group efforts.

I get where you're going with this. But I'm a little against it.

There are rewards for questing. There are achievements for all quests. There are rewards for participating in QaTs.

Personally, I have all the questing achievements. I don't care for extra pet slots (the main QaT reward). I have no "reason" to quest and yet I still do all quests during the QaT - for the challenge, to help the community, and because I have the time to devote to it.

I think the final reason - I have time, is the big one. No matter how many rewards, no matter how many achievements, if people don't have time to do it, they won't.

The achievements won't really encourage that much more participation. Mainly it will reward the people who would do it anyway. The people who are already benefiting the most from QaTs.

On a purely selfish note, I'm all for that. But as a general strategy I don't think its all that fair. The only way I can see to have more people participate in the QaTs is to make questing less monotonous, and I don't really see a way of doing that.

I would support a QaT related achievement for "participating" each day in the QaT, ie: do a quest. And if you participate each day, a forum title or something (maybe relevant to current trends so each year we could laugh about "I'm not sure what a QaT is and at this point I'm afraid to ask" or "Subexa play despacito").

Because yeah, the people with the drive to quest ot get the prizes are already doing it. For the prizes. People unmotivated/without time probably aren't going to make the time.

Ps: for more participation please for the love of all things good in the world make them shorter? The duration of this last one was, painful.

I do like that idea of daily participation - like the melody achievement.

Of course people will complain - like they do for the bathhouse!

And agreed, two weeks is a loooooong time, especially with all that lag.
