There are events going on right now that would resonate with the choice to rerelease; Florence bearing down on the East Coast, Mangkhut on its way to do damage to the Philippines. If I recall correctly (although I may be wrong), it was a Harvey tribute, and we've got a whole new raft of tropical weather this year that might require similar help and clean-up (Florence may even take the cue and sit in one place and rain for days at a time).
