After some thought, I've decided to try and adopt out my pet

His name comes from the video game Okami, which was quite popular back when I created him. It was my favorite game at the time and I still hold a fondness for it, but my interests have changed and I'd like to fill out my pet slots with names that mean a little more to me. But because he's kind of a special pet, I'd rather adopt him out personally than simply toss him into the pound.

Not really asking for anything specific like a story or plans, though that's certainly a plus! I'd just like him to go to an active account that will give him some kind of attention and appreciate having him on their account. Also- it doesn't have to be an Okami fan that picks him up, but that is the origin of his name. Edited to add: I'll accept applications/interest until Tuesday afternoon, at which point I'll try to make a decision.

Oh my gosh. I actually had plans to make an Oki pet this month. Okami is easily one of my favorite games of all time, to the point that it was the first game I downloaded to my PS3 after my PS2 finally bit the dust. I am slowly going through and playing multiple save files right now using different Karmic transformers, both to track down the last Beads I need and because I just love the storyline, art style, combat system and mini-games so much.

I currently have two other Okami pets, though one is much closer to being finished than the other. You can poke at them if you like.

Ooh, Brushwork's custom overlay is gorgeous! It's quite coincidental that you were planning to make an Oki. Okami has a lot of nostalgic value for me. I still remember playing on my crappy old TV and the numerous late fees incurred because I didn't actually own the game for several months, but my main interests have changed, so I'll be very glad if I can give him to someone who has a similar nostalgia for it!

Will he? That's unfortunate. I knew if he hit the pound he'd lose it, but I was hoping a transfer would maintain it, just for that extra "neat" factor. Ah well, he's still an oldie even if that data gets lost. Does sort of make me wish I could "adopt out" just a name to keep the legacy status, but oh well. Not too big of a deal as long as he goes to someone who appreciates him!

I'll keep this up until..Tuesday, perhaps? Before making a decision. In case there's anyone else interested. I hate decisions so I'm not entirely looking forward to that. lol

Oh gosh yes. The first time I played it was on a tiny little TV. I actually had to connect my PS2 to our old VCR because the TV didn't have the required ports because it was so old. I remember being so disappointed the first time I beat Orochi because I thought that was the end of the game, then being super excited that there were still at least two more 'chapters' to play through. I've even played Okamiden several times through (all while lamenting it being on the 3DS instead of a larger console). Someday maybe we will actually get a sequel that will take us to the Celestial Plain.

Also, you technically can just adopt out a name. It is a bit pricey, but you can do a name swap with another pet using CSC. So if you created a new pet with a name you wanted, you could just swap their name over to the pet that is currently Oki, then adopt out the new pet which will then have Oki's name.

The 'Legacy' status doesnt mean much tho. It only means you adopted the pet prior to Subeta tracking adoption dates (so prior to this news post/November 17th 2009). People tend to care much more about the low IDs of 'legacy' pets.

As copper said, if you want to keep the legacy status and say you owned the same pet/ID for almost 10 years, you can always name swap the name!

I would love to put my name in to adopt Oki! I love Okami to bits, and have played through it so many times~ It's a game that I never get tired of looking at. The art style is the main reason I keep going back to it. Oki is best pupper, and would get all the love (art, fancy profile, ect.)

I do own Orochi, but I was never into the creature enough to make her a fan character, though my plans for her are a little influenced by the game. Most of my pets have art/stories done on them, though only Balthazaar, Kirrian, and Hanah are the only completely finished ones. Been kind of holding out for the profile updates to finish up more.

I had the same reaction to the Orochi fight! And still ended up sad at the end of the game. lol And yeah, that's true, I could.. But as a currently free-to-player, I think I'll hold onto my leftover csc from years ago. Legacy status isn't too big a deal- plus, I haven't decided what new name to get yet! I have like 5 I want and I can't decide which I want more at the moment.

Of the pets you have finished, their profiles are very neat! Sorta thing I wish I could do for my pets, I love the art alongside the story. Okami's artstyle is gorgeous! I played the PC port for a while and still found myself marvelling at it. It's very iconic. Your name is certainly in for him!

True, it isn't too important of a status. Just kind of a neat thing. I think I'll let him go as is, though. I don't have a name prepared for a new pet anyway. I've still got five other legacy pets that aren't going anywhere.

I know that feeling very well. Assuming we reach the goal for the current Quest-a-thon I'll have four open slots by the middle of this month, and I've been trying to figure out which character ideas to use besides Oki. Just when I think I have decided on it I remember this one other character (there always seems to be 'one other character') that I could use and start the planning all over again.

It's been years since my first playthrough of the game and I still get emotional about King Wada's fate and the part that we the players take in it. But the Kamui arc is probably my favorite part of the game. The setting, the characters, the animals, the music - all of it. Being able to run around turning all of the Oina tribe into their wolf forms is definitely an added bonus. I have been slowly shoving stuff into my vault for the last few years related to the region with the intention of creating a fanpet for either Oki or Samickle. When the artist who did Brushwork's commissions open again I'm going to try and snag an overlay slot from them, since I want to have all of my Okami pets to have similarly styled overlays. In the meantime I've been playing around with different profile templates to get a feel for how to do profiles myself while trying to jump on chances to commission more customized profiles.

Since never returned with an application, I'm going to end this now a day late (oops) as no further interest has been shown. And for the record, this was not first come first serve. I just..only have two people to choose from. >>; I hate making decisions..

With that said, I've decided that Oki will find his new home with ! There's nothing at all that specifically made me not pick you, so please don't feel that way, it was simply a gut feeling and the very hard to ignore coincidence that Copper was planning an Oki pet this month already. I'm sure you'd make just as good of a home for him!

I'm really glad I found interest at all. In a way he's like a piece of my childhood/early teens, as I was much younger when I originally created him, so please take good care of him. ^^; If you have a spare pet slot ready, Copper, I'll add you and send him your way.
