This is probably a pretty big undertaking since I think it would need to be adressed at the weapon level indivisually but I have always hated how unreadable the battle text is

Reading the ancient gilded text inscribed on this scroll, you summon forth the spirit of the slain Lady of the Waters, restoring your own vitality! See how easy this is for me? Look, I can fight you with one hand tied behind my back! I could defeat you using only a quill and a monocle, I know I could.

Hey! You... I can't believe you shattered my monocle. That was a 500-million-sP monocle! Now I'm actually getting annoyed.

Your opponent's strength was boosted by 50!

Your opponent's defense was boosted by 50!

You know why I'm winning this fight? It's because I'm more quick-witted than you are, not to mention quicker in general. I'm also better-looking.

The spacing is inconsistent, it looks like the text of my scroll just flows into the opponents next move. Most of the weapons don't even say which weapon it is that the opponent is using. It's usually very difficult to tell what weapon is doing what. I'm not really sure by reading that which weapon boosted my opponents strength and defense.

It would be nice if each line of battle text could include the the weapon name in there somewhere and bold it.

More consistent spacing of the weapons would be nice as well.

For the sidebar, it would also be nice if blessings and curses all went to the bottom of the list so that the sidebar order would always be: Weapon 1, Weapon 2, Scroll, Blessings, Curses. We already have indicators at the top of the screen to tell us when a blessing or curse is active. What I really want to know at a glance is what weapons my opponent used.

Ultimately this probably doesn't need to be a huge priority, sicne 99% of battles I'm clicking through as fast as I can and not reading any of the text. But the handful of times that I do need to look down at the text, its painful every time.

It would be nice if that block of text looked more like this:

I like it, it reminds me of the my early Intro to Programming classes when you embedded line breaks directly into strings and hoped for the best when you output a bunch of lines in a row. :P

In all seriousness, the text is a disaster. As an alternative solution though, I'd suggest rewriting the line output so that the text lines appear in a tabular format. This would clear up the issue of linking the text to the weapon, without involving the additional work of rewriting any text.

The new one looks amazing. At least, it looks it's a lot more helpful. I don't really understand what's going when I'm battling - I just pick weapons and I hope for the best.

Anything that requires less scrolling and contains less useless text I never read is A-OK in my book. lol

I'd also loooooove if you could hover over weapons, scrolls, and potions in your arsenal WHILE battling because sometimes you forget which exact icons/actions that item does... especially those pylonics, I always mix them up xD

Full support for this, especially for something along the lines of 's solution! Battle text can be horrible to decipher, and I remember it made battling very confusing in the beginning until I decided to mostly just ignore it. XD Separating out the different effects and making it clearer which weapons caused what would be awesome.

Absolutely support this. After all these years, I ignore this text about 98% of the time. It's nearly unreadable both in its format and lack of weapon identification. I see this also as a real stopper for people getting into battling. They're basically reliant on going to the battle board for weapon information, because it's really difficult to understand the text and icons. (I mean, hell, I still do that. Tell me what weapon is good, and I'll just trust you and fling wildly in the BC!)

I asked a while back what the possibility of moving the battle totals to the top of the columns (the total damage and total healed), so that I could tell when I hit a good hit and such. Bug responded back that it was actually a massive undertaking for what seemed like it should be a simple task. So I can see that being an obstacle to this. It's one thing to change up the formatting and add in a preselect, but perhaps a whole nother ball game to change up the text.

It's definitely a massive undertaking. They would likely need to come up with a style guide first, and then individually apply that to all of the weapons. I think you could streamline the process by focusing on challenger weapons and weapons in T5 and above at first, but even that would take a lot of manpower.

The thing that bugs me the most is that the battle text of every weapon doesn't include the weapons name somewhere in the text. That should be the bare minimum. Ideally it would also give some descriptor of any weird effects it was having as well. Such as increasing/decreasing stats, activating curses/blessings, Stealing, Freezing, or item generating.

Yes! The text is totally confusing as it is. Beyond trying to work it out in the beginning (years and years ago) I just ignore it and have for years.

I do like 's table, but I'd like to see some color - green for me, red for my opponent. So I can still see at a glance what I did and what my opponent did.
