frosix is fast approaching T11, and i'm technically still using his T9 set!

additionally, i'm pretty shit at strategy lmao. i tend to just spam the bludgeon and flail until i'm almost dead, then use the phoenix quill, then keep spamming and hope i do more damage than i take until i win (yeah, this is how i play all battle systems).

so! i'm looking for advice on a decent set - and i know it's going to be costly, but the more frugal end of the spectrum is preferred - as well as general strategy tips.

should i be doing more with gems besides cramming my weapons full of crit and healing crystals?

any scrolls i should be looking into? these are the ones i have now, though again, i pretty much just use green thumb off the bat, then leave sonar scream auto-selected for the rest of the battle. the others are just sort of... there because i have them and maybe someday i'll put in the time to figure out if i should be using them for something in particular.

The first thing I noticed is that you don't have a 100% freezer. Often we use these on the first turn because they guarantee a second. Gorgun is your cheapest option right now and is available in the Battle Shop. Eventually you will want to upgrade to an Intricate Energized Helmet , which can be built using the components in the Battle Shop. It provides a blessing that prevent you from being frozen for two turns after it's used.

Next you want to place your once per battle items in front of your constant attackers. Since constant attackers are infinite use and you use preselection, you likely won't use the once per battle weapons unless they are placed before your constants. The exception to this is your healers since you want to use them when the time is right. So any bombs or blasters would be placed next.

The other thing I noticed is that you have far too many constant attackers, five to be exact. You shouldn't need more than three, but often two will suffice unless you are worried about stealing. The extras are taking up slots you could use for other important things like a bomb, extra healer, or shield.

For T11, the standard constant attackers are Paintbrush Blades and Swashbuckle. Unfortunately, most T10+ weapons don't come cheap, but the Swashbuckle is well worth the investment. Unstable Sample Syringe is a great alternative, but has a similar price tag. Malignant Rift Staff is also pretty good, but isn't as strong defensively as the others.

With all of that in mind, I think you should aim for this set:

The best mod crystals are the Parched Baguette Crystal, Blessing of Natural Armor Tear Crystal, Critical Strike Tear Crystal, and Singed Baguette Crystal. I have a guide to them over here: The Guide to Mod Crystals under the Special Crystals spoiler. You can use any combination of them that you need, but generally one or two Parched or BoNA per weapon is ideal since they both protect against freezing and the latter protects against stealing.

The best scrolls for upgrading from your Singed Stuffing Scroll are Aftershocks Scroll or Ocean Currents Scroll. They're well worth the price tag if you decide to buy one. A cheaper alternative is the Divine Denizhen Scroll, which can be made at the Secluded Shrine.

Cobalt Eternal Scroll is the gold standard for defensive scrolls since it is always available in the MC. I recommend picking up a few of those when you can. Fatal Fire Scroll is also pretty good. Perilous Whirlpool Scroll is a popular OPB that can be made cheaply at the Secluded Shrine and offers a slight freeze chance and fire protection.

The same principle of putting your OPB items before the infinite use ones also applies to scrolls. Generally you want your infinite use scrolls last when you order them, otherwise you won't use the OPB ones and they'll just sit unused during every battle.

As for strategy, that becomes a somewhat complicated subject. When you're later in the game as you are now, strategy becomes a case-by-case basis and you'll often need to think about each opponent individually. Generally, you'll want to think defensively. If your opponent deals out a lot of fire icons, you want a weapon that blocks fire icons. If your opponent freezes you a lot, equip more Parched or BoNA crystals. Surviving the battle as long as possible becomes key so you can chip away at your opponent's health until it hits zero. MrCool`s Battle Guide is very helpful for strategizing and you are always welcome to ask for tips on the Battle Chat 2018 :)

thanks for the detailed advice! yeah i just kinda had those other weapons as 'backups' in case a particular enemy was resistant to my main ones, and since the shards took up the freezer slot i never actually bothered equipping the gorgun, and. anyway yeah like i said, my strategy is to be bigger and stronger than the enemy and hit them harder so they die first lmao. going forward i will probably have to refine that a little.

This is what I would aim for as a budget set:

- best affordable water blocker until you can get a manifesting weapon

- nice entry T11 weapon. You can mod it with crystals to give you more block where you need it. I found modding it with dark defense made it a decent dark blocker

- always good to blast opponent weapons. You will want to replace the blackmoon blaster for soma tablets in the long run, but they are a pricey investment.

always good to heal you can make this in the battle shop with tokens. In the meantime, I would use instead of the gorgun as a freezer. It blocks light and water and boosts your pet for 1 turn decent physical blocker that also has a good chance to block earth - most affordable god weapon with wind block. Great against mama forj.

As for scrolls, I gave some recommendations here for different options depending on your budget and battle style:
