hello! sorry if this has been suggested before, i've searched and couldn't find it!
so, sometimes i don't remember certain items' names and i think it would be easier if they had tags according to, for example, the color of the item. a pink wig that has no "wig" or "pink" in the name could have tags so i could easily search for "pink" in the wardrobe and have it show up. kinda like in another avatar site that i'm not sure i'm allowed to mention
items could be tagged according to color, style (vintage, cute, etc.), layer... it doesn't have to show up when we hover an item (i think it would get cluttered easily).
thanks for reading and hopefully i'm not speaking nonsense! :~)
Honestly, I'd love to see this for most/all items. And realistically there's 61,057 items on site, and half of those are wearable. So if this happened, I'd be disappointed if it was exclusive to wears (not surprised, just disappointed haha).
Considering there are so many items onsite, and so few staff, this would be a neat "boring summer no events" community effort sorta thing and would be handy in the item directory. Especially for finding random "fruit" or "tool" items you remember seeing but can't remember the name of.
thanks a lot for your input, ! truly could be useful on all items. :-0
Many years ago they did a community tagging thing. I'm pretty sure it was all items. Not sure what it was supposed do. Maybe whatever project that was could revived/restarted/revamped?
All I have left is an old link that no longer works. https://subeta.net/item_tags.php

ohhh, interesting! i wonder why it was discarded hopefully we can bring it back!
I've never actually used the feature, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you could possibly add "tags" of a sort yourself by using the drawer feature in the wardrobe? You could possibly add all of your pink items to a drawer labelled "pink stuff" or maybe be more specific and have it only contain pink wigs. And I would assume you have to possibility to add it to multiple drawers, meaning you could add multiple kinds of tags, but, again, I haven't actually used the feature myself. 😅
I know that's not really the same thing as your suggestion (which I definitely support!! would make searching things so much easier, especially face wearables), but I thought it might be a helpful tool for you in the meantime. :)

the drawer system does help - its the only thing that keeps my wardrobe even somewhat manageable.
There are challenges though.

All very valid points, unfortunately. I find it really surprising that you can't put items in multiple drawers, it really seems like a missed opportunity imo. And the fact that you can only use your own items definitely doesn't help with searching for new ones. :/
I do wonder, though, if the current drawers system would be at least a decent framework for starting up a more dedicated and articulate tagging system? Although the previous tagging project you mentioned in your earlier post sounds like it would be much better honestly, assuming they still have the data from it.
Thank you for clearing up the information about the drawers! Like I mentioned, I'd never used it before (my wardrobe isn't very big), but it's good to now have a better idea of how it works! :)

i've never used the drawers thing either, so i'm glad Lypsyl could clear things up!
i think that if those issues were fixed, it could be a great start!
thanks a lot for trying to help, though! any other ideas are welcome <3
I remember the community tagging project too, and I'd love to be able to search my wardrobe by tags in addition to just names. It would certainly help with finding all sorts of things (like eyes/mouths/noses, facial hair etc. which all share a layer and definitely don't always look like or have a name like what they are; or items like vests and some jackets, which can be (and frequently are) split across several different layers and again don't always have the right keyword in the name).
I for one be perfectly happy to participate in a community tagging thing again, whether it's a fresh slate for all items on site or just the ones that have been released since the last time. (As for the question 'what about custom wears' I imagine a good solution would be: For old items, either let them be included in the community tagging pool and give the item creator final say over what tags get used, or just let the item creator submit tags for all their items. For new items, the tags can be just another info field that gets submitted along with the art etc, and applied when the item is added to the site.)
they/them/theirs, please.
I support the community tagging. I also remember that in the short-lived Wardrobe V2 there were clickable color swatches for the predominant colors on wearable items, so you could search your wardrobe for things that would at least be similar colors. (They weren't very specific, so green might return forest greens, emerald greens, seafoam greens, etc, but it was still very helpful) and I really miss that feature
I support this idea. It would be so much easier than having drawers in my wardrobe labelled things like Dresses Not Obvious.
I miss the color swatches too and would like to see them back.
wow that sounds super useful too! thanks for your imput!! :~)
ahh, i know right!! thanks for posting! ♡
We've been told by that he tried and tags for the Wardrobe are impossible. They were Suggested multiple times back when v3 was being developed and in beta.
There used to be color swatches and color matching via those swatches in Wardrobe. That was amazingly useful to me and I have hopes one year it will come back.
The community tagging we did was for minions, and this was for the minion-battling that was supposed to happen with the Minion Zoo. Minion battling was simplified from the Pokemon style that we have now to the Neurogalaxy model. For reasons ? this was never implemented. Certainly it got the battle community's swimsuit areas all metaphorically sweaty itchy and full of pimples or something because boy did they object as if minion battling would be a humongous calamity.
