EDIT to say that I am very very sorry if anyone feels targeted by this thread. It was definitely not my intention. But since this thread has more popularity with people sharing their name compromises than I actually anticipated, I'd like to leave this topic up, I see a lot of really cool pets on here and I'd like to keep checking back to see what others have to say. Again, it was never my intention to make anyone feel awkward or targeted for having a pet name that is someone else's first choice also. I mean, there are so many pets on here, it's hard not to have at least one pet on your account that one other person doesn't wish they had, right? It's life here on Subeta after all. Yes exactly. I don't mind RWs for names if I can't have their actual name. Like 90 percent of my pet names are RWs and that's totally a-okay. But for like Blooo, while it's cute, I'd so much rather have Blue. Or even Blu. But that's taken, too. D8

I understand the trouble with Myranda. I'd hate to have to fix things to fit, especially if it grew on you. Cayne grew on me, too, I'd take the real name if it was offered to me though. But he's not my biggest complaint either way. Abul bugs me the second most, because he's the newest. I so wish I had Abel. OH WELL.

I own a couple of alternate spelled real names but love each and every single one of them otherwise I wouldn't have them. In some cases I wouldn't even trade them for the "original" spelling because I just find it less appealing when looking at it - Kristian for example, I find the version with "K" much nicer than with "Ch".

I wish you the best of luck with finding other names for the Pets you aren't quite happy with, I know name hunting can be frustrating but I'm sure there will come an opportunity one day.

Right, that's not to say most of the misspellings I have won't grow on me. I mean Cayne has been the way I spelled that characters name for over 6 years now. I probably would adopt or change the name if 'Cain' was offered or available to use, but that's one in particular I already don't mind ^^ Blooo bugs me because of how long it is and obviously wrong. But honestly it's not too bad either.

And thank you for the luck, I hope one day one or more is offered/becomes available, but I don't mind really either way.

I can't stand misspelled names for fan pets. I used to make all the alternative spellings for Nuada before, but kept none of it (luckily I got to adopt Nuada eventually). I'm the type of users who would rather use a real word for a fan pet than misspelled names. I just feel semi lucky because a lot of the characters I like have uncommon names and in uncommon fandoms, so I got to snag a good portion of them.

But if it's not a fan pet, then, I usually have no problem with alternative spellings as long as they look right.

For me a I love odd spellings for names... but only for OCs. But I agree it can be frustrating, specially if the character you like has a very common name and even if you DO want an alternate spelling, most of the time they are taken too.

Oh I definitely feel you. I'd rather have a RW for a fanpet. But I guess I was just so eager to DO Blue from Jurassic World I picked an alternative spelling instead of looking around for RWs that were available and fitting. (PS I've told you before but I <3 Mischief, everything from the name and color combo all the way to the profile. Huge SPN fan, I didn't get to meet him at a convention but I saw him from afar ((plus he MC'd the whole thing)).I did meet a fair few of all the other actors/actresses though.)

Right, for OCs it's not a huge deal. Cayne and Abul are like...half OCs. I guess I'd call them alternate Universe characters? Maybe? Ironically the same user owns the actual spellings xD No surprise there. I guess I can't complain too much, my spellings aren't too far off, I feel like 'Abul' looks silly, but meh, I'll make do.

I have a couple of alternative and British spellings and a few names that are just made up, but I really like the names I have and I'm not sure I would trade them even if given the opportunity. It can take a while, but when you find something that feels right for them, it ceases to feel like you're settling.

And sorry to disappoint, but Cain's been one of my favorite (albeit neglected on-site) OCs for years and I've stalked Abel for what some people would probably consider an unhealthy amount of time in hopes of having them both. He finally cleared last December and I still can't believe the waiting is over. ;u; I don't think I could ever give them up. x:

Tbh I love your Cayne and Abul ❤️, but I can understand the frustration to some people when it comes to misspellings. I personally don't mind 8D. I have Elliott, Emanuele and Ezequiel, which can all be considered misspellings of Elliot, Emanuel and Ezekiel.

I can definitely understand the frustration of either having misspellings or not having the names you want, however, this thread may actually be considered targeting and I feel this also may make it awkward for those who actually own the pets. Just an FYI since stuff like this could potentially cause you to be reported.

All my pets have the right spellings except for Picasso. which has the little period at the end and makes me want to die every time I see it. But I have no choice and have learned to live with it.....kind of......

Oh I have a bunch of misspellings, tho I did just get Breck all fixed up! Had her as Brecc but the spelling of her name is now correct!

Now I have seven pets with misspelled names, but I don't mind them. They work. Breck's was the one that REALLY annoyed me and I got to fix her.

I've got Masquirade and the i bugs me sometimes but she was the first pet I won PS with so even if I had the opportunity to swap I don't think I would.

Sometimes stalk Masquerade then remember she's owned by a friend ❤

Blooo is actually really, really cute. And it fits the overlay so well! It gives a lot of character to the name I think!

I have so many alternated spelling of alternate names I lost count. In some cases they bug me. In others the alternate name/spelling grew on me. A list:

Aarick for Rick, it grew on me, but I'd still rather go with Rick if I could

Asar for Ausar.... This board actually made me look at Ausar, which is now free. So I've just created Ausar ;___; Thank you for making this board, I got a real spelling that I really wanted because of it

Bethy for Beth, Behty is not too bad and close enough. I don't really mind it anymore

Ellsey for Elie, this one grew on me a lot. It makes the character more unique.

Gabriela for Gabriella, this one bugs me a lot. I like the double L better, but I'm still glad I got the ony exact pronunciation alt spelling for this name, since she is one of my oldest OC

Genese for Genesis, it makes the character unique so it's not too bad I suppose

Jakie for Jake. Bugs me a lot. But close enough since I'll never really get Jake anyways.

Jannine for Janine. Doesn't bug me anymore, I even like the double N more now
