I know quentin gives them and you can give them to some dude who gives you shards. But the Amulets are 300K each and the shards are only worth 9K. Is there something else you use them for?

When you take them to the Mage, you have a chance of getting a tome instead of a shard. I don't remember what the percent chance of getting a tome vs a shard is supposed to be, but they're definitely rarer than the shards.

Example of one of the tomes, there's a tome type for each of the same elements as the amulets:

The tomes can be read to your pet like regular books, but they're also stat boosters. If you have a battle pet, the tomes are useful for increasing your pet's stats once you get to the higher tiers when they become more expensive to train or use EXP from battle quests. A lot of battlers will save up a bunch of amulets and then turn them all in at once and hope they get a decent amount of tomes from it.

I always turn mine in when I get them. Sometimes I'll toss them at friends but I usually like to try and turn them in and hope for a tome. Doesn't always work out but still... free is free so to me it's worth the gamble.

I store my amulets away so eventually i can turn them into the mage for a book to read to my battle pet.

Any amulets that turn into shards, i keep as fragging fodder.

i throw them at the mage and hope for the best which never happens rip i should sell them and buy tomes with that money at this point honestly

I save up to at least 100 amulets before I jam them down the stupid mage’s throat turn them in to the mage and hope for tomes. I like to do 100 this way I’m not disappointed by all the shards :p

You could also wear the amulets!

You can buy it from user shops for 16.5M [item2=Rainbow Mage Amulet]

You can wait for August when the the 2006 donation present will be in the Cash shop for 250 CSC

You can post in the achievement subforum, there are a couple of threads where people will lend wearable items for achievements.

My own experience with turning them in is that the odds vary between one in six to one in eight. This is about what the Tomes cost if you buy them outright from other users, only you get the shards too to Fragmentize if you give them to the NPC Element Mage.

Isn't there an Achievement for giving the EM one of each element of Mage Amulet withing the same visit?

Nope. These are the 3 mage amulet achievements. There are no tiers for any of them.

1. Mage Helper - Give the mage a Mage Amulet!
2. Mage Tome Recipient - Get a Tome from the Mage!
3. Mage Amulet Collector - Have all of the Mage Amulets in your wardrobe.

Handing in one of each type of amulet to the Mage in one visit is how you unlock him as a battle challenger.
