I usually stick to mythological themes, like my current avatar is a Swedish Huldra/Hulder. (because I couldn't find a tail for a Norwegian Huldra)

But I've also have had a siren, a demon, multiple fairies, and a kuchisake-onna (avatars undercut so the thread isn't too long)

usually my look is very girly. I love makeup but I like simple looks I always notice that I never have a lot of items on at once I need to work on layering, so like girly but simple.

I'm oscillate between overly cutesy and nature spirit xD

I frequently roleplay as a bug.

I'm still in the ninth circle of Overwatch hell, so my theme normally is that of my favorite Overwatch hero.

Most of my HAs are made for forum challenges centered around a certain item or theme, so I don't exactly stick to a theme of my own choosing. I do like complex HAs with clever item layering, if that counts.

I pretty much always have my HA in some kind of cosplay or other, I've been on kind of a pokemon streak lately. When I'm not doing that, I usually do something along the theme of "Hippie Necromancer" or "Steampunk Witch" with a lot of jewelry

most of mine are kinda 'urban', so like, wearing clothes you'd see average people wear too

and they're either very edgy or very cutesy there's no in-between

Most of mine are Fantasy or Cosmic in nature.

sometimes cute, sometimes casual, a lot of monster boy in combination with the latter two. i'm slowly working on making less effeminate (not that there's anything wrong those) looking male avatars but, damn it's hard.

i don't often do complex layering or bother with backgrounds (mostly because i don't have many bg items lol).

Mine don't really have a set theme, and since I'm usually participating in SYS, I build my HAs around the item for the week so they can go from fashion/urban to wildly out there. I do have a tendency to also go for a more folklore/mythological theme for my HAs (Gee, who woulda guessed that >___>). Currently, I have no idea, I just wanted to experiment with my new items.

I've only just started after all these years to play around with the wardrobe (thanks lol).
At the moment I've been creating sort of bug themed HA's (decided if you couldn't 'splat' them with a thong might as well join them) after all the body mod releases. Have started with basic bug/human ideas but have just bought up and created a heap of snake/fish/insect style HA's that I'm looking forward to using in the future.
I am also in the process of creating fictional characters from across multiple genres as well as trying to use items that I just HAD to have lol.

I'm mostly going for colour schemes while making avis and always girly/urban. Things I would wear in real life.

My avatar is always dressed as one of my OCs. It's usually the same one -- this lovely gentleman with the mohawk -- but I am starting to branch out to give the others some love, too.

I like to make HA's inspired in some way by j-fashion, usually fairy kei or lolita. It's fun to try and find different items that can work for those styles.

I also find hard to stay away from animal themed items, like horns or mermaid tails and goat legs.

I don't know that I stick to a theme really. I'm mostly all about colors/color matching. I do like to play with colors or maybe color themes. Usually 2 or 3 main colors and see what I can up with. Will do a theme if it's an event or holiday or a challenge or something.

I think my fav theme is space, as my current HA. And I use so much blue on it (my fav color) Then something like faeries, demons, that kind of stuff.

I usually make casual looking male HAs as even though im female, im much better at making male HAs because irl all I wear is jeans & tshirts, feminine clothes are not something I like, and neither do I wear makeup so male HAs are easier for me lol
