So, HAs can now be half a terrifying bug, I think it's time they should be able to be fat too. Now I know that making different body type avatars is impossibly much work for the artists, because they'd have to redraw all the items, and the avatars aren't terrifyingly skinny to begin with which is nice. But what about some fat body mod type items, clothing or even limbs and stuff that makes HAs look heavier? I know there are baggy items that hide the avatar's body, and there are those maternity shirts, but I feel like some actual items designed to show off/accentuate a larger stomach, bigger arms, NO THIGH GAP etc. would be lovely (esp with male and female versions).
I cannot art, but here is my attempt:
See, stomach, larger arms and thighs, etc (I really can't draw)
Bonus points if the clothing looks like something a hobbit would wear.
Fun fact: there are more fat people in the world than half monster bug people (at least i hope so)

I agree that there should be body type variety on here, theoretically. I can hear the arguments again being that it would involve redrawing the entire wardrobe but while we're getting a complete rework of the wardrobe + revamps of clothes as we go, is it that unlikely? Come now.
Support, absolutely.

If you're talking whole new bases, then yes, it would be unlikely, just from a logistical standpoint. Right now, it's fairly painless to edit a top item for male or female. It's just the waistline (sometimes) and a small area in the upper chest that requires a bit of re-shading and editing linework. Most of the time, a single image works for both bases' bottom half. So for a single wearable you have 2-3 images total: item, male overlay, female edited overlay if applicable. The edited version of an overlay is also worth less since usually most of the original can be re-used.
Let's say that this was a new fat avatar base and it passes for male or female:

As you can see, the only types overlays that would get away with a simple edit would be sleeveless tops that don't extend too far down the body. Everything else would essentially be drawing a new item. That puts single wearables now at 3-4 images minimum: item, male overlay, female overlay edit if applicable, fat overlay. That's going to add up for the site once you get to recolors, and especially since the fat overlay would need to be the same value to us as the non-edited overlay (because it is a whole new image rather than a simple edit.)
And that's just leaving it at a single new base. What if that particular base isn't fat in the right way? Some people are heavier up top but they don't have thunder thighs. Some people are thicker in the legs but they don't have bingo wings. And then what about buff bases or thin bases? And m/f versions for those?
It's unfortunate that we can't offer those body types (and that we didn't start there at the beginning) but it really does come down to logistics rather than laziness or discrimination. It'd be fantastic if we could do them! But we'd probably end up getting less of EVERYTHING (including wearables!) because of the time spent on it.
That all being said, items with built-in base edits could work (like the maternity shirts) but then you run into the issue of "Does anyone want to have to wear this specific shirt to be fat?" or "What if the skinny people also want this design?"
amg that base looks so cute and pudgy i love it!
I do agree that adding a new base and redoing all the items is not feasible. I think just a range of items, maybe even an npc shop with different body type items would be cool. Obviously it would be limited, but I feel like even a small range would be something, especially since the site does focus a lot on inclusivity.

I'm all for a more chubby base and then adding more clothes that can work with that base or well clothing that could work as making the HA look a little bigger. -nod nod- Anything really is fine with me. Support!
OMG I love that base! I wish it could happen, but understand why it can't.
Right now we have the pete apron, but it has pete's name on it and its pretty basic, there's no way to dress it up Try to add a vest or jacket and the fat "effect" disappears. Doesn't do much as a female HA either.

It's pretty understandable that it's a bit late in the game to try and apply that (adorably drawn) body type, given how much wearable items are currently in effect, but any (near or far) future attempts would be greatly supported.
what if the fat people also want literally any design at all? i get where you're coming from but come on
as a fat person myself, i fully support more fat avatar items. most of the ones on site are either maternity, or "lol look a fat person".
i don't know that i necessarily support redrawing all the current clothes to work with a fat base, (obviously that is a way time- and effort-intensive project that doesn't make sense for a relatively small company such as subeta) but some of the basics would be nice. or some exclusive items moving forward.
