I'm taking another look at builds for Ely, and would appreciate some input. She just hit T12 (current stats below), and while I do have some ideas for what I want her final build to be, 35k stats is a looong way from my current 12k. Thus, I'm wondering if there are better targets to hit for T13 (22k).
For example, speed. What speed is needed to outspeed every opponent? Or outspeed most? Are there minimums suggested for anyone setting up a generally balanced build? (I could've sworn I found this information somewhere else, but can't locate it now.)
And same general questions for defense.
I plan to pile on the health and strength, but I'm wondering if there are good pausing points for the other two when I get to T13.
Current: Hp: 3429 Str: 3281 Spd: 2745 Def: 2579 Lvl: 1372
Final (maybe): Hp: 10000 Str: 9500 Spd: 8000 Def: 7500
What is your ultimate goal for this pet? That will dictate what stats you build. The final build you have looks fine but it depends on what you want to do. Most challengers don’t have speed above 6k so 8k is on the high side. There are some challengers however that have 7k+ speed so if your goal is to not be crit hit then 8k of speed is good. If you’re trying to get more than 10 wins for loot drop past 10 wins, then not being crit hit will make a difference. If you’re building a pet for boss battles, then you will want a pet with high strength to do as much damage in the shortest amount of time possible, but you’re then not building for endurance so health and defense don’t matter as much.
What type of weapons do you use? Defense just determines how effective your block is. As opponents start dealing over 100 attack icons, high defense will help with blocking. However, you start to see little gains with really high defense and it’s better to just increase health instead.
You bring up some good points! Thank you!
For me, I probably won't be training up a second battle pet, so Ely is it for me. Thus, I'm looking for a pet that can ultimately beat out the majority of the opponents, while doing a fair amount of boss battle damage if I'm willing to put in the time. So, I don't really want to build a super glassy high-strength-low-survivability, but I also don't want to sway too far to the other end either. Just, best bang for my buck, and most likely to take out the majority.
The 6-7k speed number, for instance, would probably be fine for me honestly. Getting crit isn't the end of the world, and if it means having a better helping of the other stats, I'm good. I'm thinking aiming for a healthy 4k for T13 would be good right now, which isn't a very large jump sitting at 2700.
Primary Weapons:
Primary Scrolls: Cold Blast x2 Shriek of Despair x2 Psycho Smasher Aftershocks Cobalt Eternal xPlenty
I typically favor freezing as my battling style, so for any opponents that can't be frozen, I'm left with being able to take bigger hits. I've been saving up sP, and probably have enough to buy one of the big bads (Natasha, OHS, Ether, etc), but I haven't really figured out which I want to go for / made that leap. At the moment, I can beat every BQ opponent except Prodigy.
So what about a T13 build vaguely along the lines of: HP: 7000 Str: 6500 Def: 4500 Spd: 4000
With a final build of maybe: HP: 10k Str: 10k Def: 8k Spd: 7k
That’s not a bad build. As you fight more opponents, you’ll start to get a feel for which stats you need more of. For the big guys like prodigy that have high speed and high strength or guys like the castle and meatslab that boost, I found it best to get my speed in a range where I could boost quickly in battle to start crit hitting my opponents. This way battles ended before my opponents got too strong. In my case, I wanted to be above 5k speed in T12 even if I intended not to go past 7k. You could always use leeches to get your stats where you want them.
I think that's a pretty good build spread, and, like wesker mentioned, it depends on what your goals are.
But the reality is that there no bad builds.
Rocketlauncher has a pet w/ 2.5k str/def, 35k hp, 1 spd build. I would have imagined he would hit a point where 2.5k str doesnt outdamage enemy heals. And he seems to handle most opponents fine.
Colddragon has a 10k str/5k def/10k health/9k spd pet with honestly not a lot of intel (4k) and i believe the only opponent she has lost to is the mage.
im just rambling, but its interesting to see how all the weird builds play out, and they do fine because Subeta's tough opponents have very limited "smarts"; stealing, freezing, and ridiculously healing is 99.9% of their playbook.
Super RB has a speed of 9K.
I'm still deciding what my final build will be but I was thinking:
12K HP 7K STR 7K Def 9K Speed
as an even build.
I think that ultimately the best build is one with a more lopsided HP though and a lot less speed (probably 0).
Overall it probably doesn't matter unless the battling community as a whole gets more competitive about high score tables though. Challengers are designed around early T13 being the old cap. Every challenger is pretty easy at low T13.
The unanswered questions really are - what are the most efficient boss fighters, What are the most efficient Paramesia fighters, ect. With a low T13, I beat BQs with an (admittedly pimped out) T4 set.

If staff decide to do what they did last year with the hydragellos and make it “you need to do x damage before the boss disappears” then builds aren’t as critical. You’re no longer competing with other players for top tier prizes. If you want to do as much damage as quickly as possible, then you will want to have high strength and high enough speed to crit hit. Health and defense don’t matter since the boss will eventually kill your pet.
Building a pet for the para challengers, at this point, is inconsequential. Unless they release more of them, add loot prizes or achievement prizes, there’s no benefit to beating them. HST is just for bragging rights. If you’re going for more than 10 wins, high intel to chain freeze makes life easier. If you can’t chain freeze, high speed to avoid crit hits is good. Both do a ridiculous amount of damage over a large spread of icons. You will want to defend against. After doing some calculations, even a 20k HP build won’t be able to out heal damage from para rb without some defense.
saggi, ge, tide, jaques all have para art uploaded
Also, I wouldn't plan on bosses being as easy as they were last time around. I have a strong feeling that they underestimated how easy it would be to deal 5mil damage with the new battle system, considering that someone did over 100mil damage.
I have a feeling it will be something like 20mil+
Once you hit T13, in general, your choices become inconsequential. You have been consistently able to win boss prizes with a T11 and some extra effort. A brand new T13 can win any loot currently available, It can win any boss prize with some effort, Really that only leaves the Para challengers as the only thing to really build around. And it may be worthwhile building around The Mage and Hoarfrost since their loot is so hard to come by. HSTs really don't matter much, but they are the thing most affected by your final build.
I think the main thing would be to remember to always go 1 higher speed than the oppoent you are targetting. Getting a speed tie, vs getting 1 more speed would just be silly.

I noticed the art uploaded but who knows when they will be released and if there is no loot drop for T13 challengers, I don't see the point in building around them. I would argue it's better to build around getting past 10 wins on the challengers that drop things like crystals and negating pylonics.
Yeah it was there first time testing it so if the hydragellos even comes back, 20 mil doesn't sound unreasonable. You still would want high strength to do as much damage per turn as possible
