I love the idea. That event always frustrates me. :P

Maliss is already a fairly cheap minion, so I wouldn't want to see the event just give out more. Maybe it could be set up like the Tempest events where you follow a link to see what happens, and then you get a random result?

Like "you see a Maliss dart by. Click here to chase it!"

and then the results:

Bad luck: You trip over a rock and the Maliss gets away. No prize, or maybe just something super cheap.

Not so bad luck: You still miss the Maliss, but you find a rare-ish item in the process.

Good luck: You follow the Maliss into an alley way, and suddenly lose sight of it... but instead you find a themed item given out exclusively through this event.

I don't mind "non-event" REs but would definitely like more interactive ones. I miss a lot of REs because I close pages without letting them finish loading (like when buying stuff from shops), so in a way its annoying, I miss many tempest events because of that. But that also means that the themed item drops would retain a little more of their value, first being a rare part of the event, and second people missing the event completely.
